    I went through a few phases. First, I tried everything. I was disappointed half the time, noting the shitty beers and below average breweries. I slowly figured out what I really liked, and I stuck with that for a long time. Then (in the last couple of years), I realized that this was too limiting and starting branching out. This time, I was WAY more educated and tried all kinds of beers. This has resulted in so many new styles that I love, and a much broader perspective on certain styles. I just think things take time. Our beer tasting journey evolves, and eventually leads to an education.

    My wife and I visiting Canada with a million new beers to try. I say I'm heading to the local beer shop and ask if she wants to join me. She simply says "fuck no, have fun, and see you in a few hours". I'll take it!

    I'm curious - in the case of the Jai Alai example, would you go back and alter your original rating or go with that initial impression from years ago? I have pondered this question myself and I don't have a good answer.

    If my target is an NFL fan, the team I (perhaps incorrectly) presume that they would root for is one that is disliked by many fans of the NFL team I root for. OTOH, the MLB team I would presume they root for would provoke no such feelings from most fans of the MLB team(s) I root for.
