Good morning, BAs! Surprised the thread isn't open yet; allow me.

I'm enjoying some delicious "juice" with brunch (hash and scrambled eggs).

Whoa, slooooww day here today, eh?

Did a hike earlier, dodging some raindrops, and some shopping afterwards for my daughter's 30th b-day next week - bonsai and booze! I raised her right!

Also picked up this treat for myself....love it!

thunderstorms and more crappy weather this afternoon in store.....ah well!

Easy does it for me today. Another NA/UA Gose

Got a 5 miler in a nearby park (Ute Valley), up and downs for a good while, chill pace. Groovin' - and great weather BEFORE this @#($&#@ wind picked up again.
But hey, flowing with what comes.

Hope y'all are well - no big news today otherwise, might get a new and long overdue smartphone as mine is... well... not aging gracefully.

    Cheers!

    Good evening everyone,
this is an Italian beer, but I think it very faithfully reflects the Franconian school, mother of this "style".
There are no exaggerations or further characterizations with respect to the starting model which, in my opinion, is faithfully reproduced.
Is this perhaps the hardest thing to do?
(I don't know because I'm not a homebrewer, nor one who thinks there is a certain and definitive answer. But I appreciate).
It is as if it were an advance of the Franken Bier Fest (which returns after two years of forced cancellations) and which is simply a spectacular event, from every point of view (quality and location) - https://frankenbierfest.com/

Birrificio Mukkeller (Marche, ITA) - MS (MUKKELLER SMOKE) - Rauch (5,5%)

50 cl bottle, taken from one of the trusted beershops.
On the nose immediately delicate notes first of bread crust and then of smoky notes.
Versata is an intense coppery color, tending to brown.
Abundant and soft foam, it is a sight to see the wad that rises and thins it
In the mouth, very flowing body, with the right carbonation, as from the Franconian school.
The taste evolves from the crust of durum wheat bread to a non overbearing, but clearly distinguishable smoked.
The finish is soft and round, almost biscuit-like, but drier.
On the palate, the light smoked woody notes counter the altar with softer reflections of breadcrumbs and cereals.
To drink by the liter, perfect for pairing with indeterminate dishes of food, especially meat, smoked or not.

Hoppy Wednesday Advocates! Thanks @Roguer for ushering in todays thread. I'm starting off with a new one here: Dogfish Head Slightly Mighty Lo-Cal IPA. It's like crisp lemonade with essentially no malt profile whatsoever. It's okay. Probly be fine on a hot summer day. It pales in comparison to Summit Triumphant (my fave and local lo-cal brew). Cheers everyone!!

Good Times Made Here -- American Lager
    American lager
    ABV: 4.5%; pouring temperature: 41 °F; canning data: 07/06/21

    3.89/5 rDev 0%
    look: 4 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.75

Straw colored body, clear; excellent carbonation; thick, fluffy head, white and billowy. Outstanding aroma; fresh pear; floral; soft biscuit scent. Light, balanced flavors; light grain base with a touch of sweetness; mild to moderate bitterness; subtle ester presence. Light body; crisp; semi-dry.

A very nice American lager with a 90% malt bill and only 10% flaked corn. Balanced, clean, and crisp.

Good afternoon BA's! Enjoying a warm steady rain since the wee hours of the day with 2-3 inches so far.
Today's first choice is a holiday seasonal from Ommegang, a strong Belgian Blonde with an apple and pear phenol from the yeast and spiced with ginger, coriander, and nutmeg. Love the phenols but the adjunct addition is a touch heavy handed. Still enjoyable, nonetheless.
Da Boss is spinning tunes on Amazon music and is listening to one from Elton John i remember buying the 45 rpm of back in the mid-70's. Still enjoyable to listen to.
    Cheers!

An afternoon beer this gusty overcast day - working down my cellar - FW’s “Velvet Merkin” (2016):

Poured at 55°. Dark brown/ruby with excellent clarity; two fingers of creamy khaki head with a few rocks; ok to good cap retention; solid plus ring; sudsy lace; medium legs on swirl. Nose is decidedly bourbon with nuanced chocolate right behind. Taste follows nose; oaky vanilla middle; no coffee or much of anything else; bourbon balls finish. Medium minus body, light carbonation; light silky feel; no warmth from 8.5%; dry barrel finish. Overall, tastes good after 6 years; no perceived oxidation; but, drinks light/thin more like a porter than an imperial oatmeal stout; tasty but not particularly complex.

    4.5 | 4.25 | 4.25 | 3.75 | 4.25
    Score: 4.22 rDev - 1.4%

I don’t think further cellaring would be worth the wait…drink up and enjoy this vintage now. Happy hump day, and cheers y’all!

Good Afternoon BAs! Just got back from lunch at Pittsburgh Bottleshop. Started off with Bells Two Hearted IPA (always great) with a tasty chicken & bacon wrap and then Maine Lunch IPA:

which is really good. Ended with a small 5 oz pour of Prairie Bomb! Imp Stout:

which was also very good and potent!

Was going to keep one of these to try 1 year out from the October 2021 bottling, but my bottle last week indicated it is best to drink the final two and not cellar.

Starting to dive into MLB Rotisserie preparations. After an initial run through of rosters post free agent signings / trades, the best value in my estimation in terms of Team Wins / Loss Win Totals is betting Over 91.5 wins for the New York Yankees (or Mammoths).

While the division is competitive, I expect some regression by Tampa (100 wins in 2021), they are already over the CBT threshold and will likely continue to add players through the trade deadline to fill in any gaps or injuries. They won 91 games while committed to staying under the CBT last year, and won 100 and 103 games in 2018 and 2019, respectively, when they have exceeded the CBT.

You may recognize a few of these actors in this 1973 classic baseball film.

Nice look at the OG Yankees Stadium at the start and end of this clip, including the Three Monuments (Gehrig, Huggins and Ruth) and the CF Flagpole in the field of play:
