Our paths have officially crossed! I was at the bar (under the TV) from 11ish until 12:30. I'm pretty sure we were the only two folks in there drinking barley wine for brunch! Next time I'll be better about sending out the Bat Signal :-)

Ha, no worries, I know who you were though (pretty easy to figure out).

One of the employees was next to me having a beer (I think she works there, was off shift I think).

I was in the corner seat enjoying the peaceful ambiance inside after the snowfall. Plus, Beetlejuice was on above you, so I was enjoying that as well).

I conducted some research by having 4 of the 7 barley wines today and my favorite was easily the 2013 Blunderbuss aged in Buffalo trace rye barrels.

Finally got over there yesterday. 2013 Buffalo Trace rye barrel was by far my favorite of the 4 I tried, amazing beer.

CBC is a gem, love the food too.

Took some buffalo tenders home when I was there. Win win.

    I'm glad y'all enjoyed the 2013 too.
Went for the nachos as my barleywine pairing. There was a duck pastrami sandwich that was tempting but I was going home to make pizza after so I needed something lighter. No, I did not eat all of the nachos (even though I hadn't had lunch).

That duck pastrami was totally calling my name, but I resisted. The cheese plate looked friggin’ awesome too.

I don’t know if a 40 month old cheese is good, but it sounds good.

Barleywine fest is still running tonight - all 8 vintages still available. Grabbed myself a magnum of Short King too!

In a true tribute to Robert Fripp the beer is incredibly technically well made, but is made for a very specific niche crowd.

(Note: I love English Dark Milds and Fripp.)

I was glad to see that the Brattle theater has both of their taps running again this week and they are sticking with CBC exclusively on draft! They have been offering canned beer only (mostly Lamplighter) since they reopened. When I visited they had Table for One bier de garde and Kelly IPA running

And, just a reminder that Club Passim always has 4 CBC options on draft!

Beer-wise it was CBC's Kelly IPA and Table for One biere de garde on tap on Monday. They also have 4 or 5 Lamplighter options in cans.

Movie-wise it's a tribute to the French actor Jean-Louis Trintignant this weekend - City of Lost Children, The Conformist, and others. And it's Judy Garland on Monday and Tuesday.

Popcorn-wise it's always real melted butter at the Brattle!

Haven't been on here in a hot minute, but has CBC finally succumbed to IPA demand? was on there a couple weeks ago looking at their taps and it was close to 75%, today I went again and it is better, but more IPA/PA than I recall in prior years and no Barleywines or Sours. Interested to hear other takes.

    Thanks

I was there on Saturday, I did notice they had nothing darker than their amber on tap (at 95 degrees I wasn't really interested in a stout or barleywine anyway - OK you got me, I would've ordered a barleywine if available) but it wasn't overwhelmingly dominated by IPAs like other breweries.

Looking at their online menu now (which is close to if not identical to what I remember in person) there are 3 IPAs and 2 Pale Ales out of 14 total beers. That doesn't seem that bad to me. They have 2-3 sours (depending how you count Ginger Peach Shandy), 4 lagers, a few of their standard house beers, a golden biere de garde...overall about as diverse of a selection as I can imagine.

The arrival of CBC's "summer" barleywine, arquebus, is imminent. Will Myers posted about it last week on social media and that news was shared in this thread above. And as far as CBC and IPAs, well, people like hops. CBC would be foolish NOT to have a bunch of hoppy selections available. Current tap list looks quite varied, actually.

It does look pretty good today. A couple weeks back to was a majority IPAs, perhaps even a vast majority. I always thought in years past it was 2-3 tops for the category
