    Dark brown body, clear; thin yet lasting head, dense and creamy. Rich malt aroma; aged oak; nuts. Fantastic taste; heavy, earthy sweetness; boozy; hints of dates; toffee and caramel elements; spicy. Heavy body; rich and smooth; velvety; sweet overall yet tempered with alcohol dryness.

    What a fantastic ale! This is a rich, boozy beer, rife with flavor. It exudes complexity and depth while staying balanced for the style. Simply lovely.

    ...started out yesterday with a barleywine, may as well do the same today...

    I can understand that. The six pack set me back $17! I find a few locally made German style beers to be good substitutes at a much lower price point, but rarely reach the same level of enjoyment. Not something I will buy often, but certainly would consider for special occasions.

    There’s something special though about a $17 six pack. Makes you appreciate it more I love German beers so much I studying a German brewing and history course. Love it all never got a chance for this one though

    Agree. I'm willing to pay a little more and I'm rarely disappointed. One of these days my son and I am going to travel to German and do a brewery circuit. I'd love to drink some of those fresh out of the tap!
