    Good evening NBW
Last new-to-me beer of the weekend is the standout...
    De Glazen Toren Ondineke
750mL bottled 26.08.2021 poured into a chalice at 53° Fahrenheit 8.5% ABV. The beer pours opaque orange amber in color with light khaki head. The head recedes to a thin cap and leaves a ring around the glass. The aroma is mild with semisweet pale malt, orchard fruit and light pepper / clove. The taste is semisweet pale malt with the pepper & clove notes of the yeast blending in nicely with the earthy medium bitter finish. There's a hint of apple and pear in the flavor as well. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with above average carbonation and a dry finish. No detectable alcohol. Overall, excellent. This beer is beautifully balanced and enjoyable to sip.

I can't tell you how excited I am to be enjoying this beer right now. I knew there had to be a tripel out I'd enjoy. I'm also pretty excited to have two different saisons from De Glazen Toren on hand for some upcoming NBW reviews.

    Cheers all!

My sole contribution to the Tripel Thread, New Belgium Honey Orange Tripel, 10% ABV; 3.64 overall

Pours a bright effervescent gold with a sliver rapidly vanishing beige head. Traces of head retention & no lacing

    S: Green banana & a little boozeyness

T: Rubber bands, orange, a touch of honey & dryness up front. Green banana, cloves, dryness & a little orange, treacle, & a little bit of phenol once this beer warms up. Finishes with boozeyness, a touch of orange sweetness, dryness & a little juicy fruit gum

MF: Medium body, lively carbonation up front, flattens out over time

Solid for the style, but little to sweet for my wheelhouse; I prefer my Tripels hoppier

I've tried them with oysters, but give me an APA, IPA or Lager with them any day

Happy nbs. Things are well here. Plenty busy at my job and going to Boston next weekend. My mom is at Martha's vineyard and we will house sit the whole week while she is on vacation.

Really not all that busy at Sticks and stones on a Sunday night.

I am starting with a Foothills sexual chocolate bba. I've been wanting to try this for 10 years and now I can drink it on the corner of the neighborhood. This was fantastic. Aromas and flavors of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, fudge, bourbon, toasted oak, dark bread, smoke, char, herbal, grass, pepper. Light molasses, licorice, dark fruit, vanilla. Some boozy Aromas as it warms. Moderate hop/char bitterness and oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Full body creamy/ silky malts. Some sticky hop, chalky roast, and tannic oak drying on a long finish. No acrid/astringent flavors. Plenty of barrel presence with great integration and complexity. Warming finish. I can see why it has a cult following, but it did not blow me away. It's a very clean and well done RIS style all around. Worthy of aging. 4.2

Brew 2000 is one of my all time highest rated beers - had it at FOBAB the year they released it and it was unreal. Might have chilled by their both for a pour or four at the end of the night.
Tell Mrs. O I like her review

Got the 3 way bruchetta again and sweet potato fries.

Blue blaze yellow blazer kolsch. Good kolsch. Quite fruity nose of lavender, grape, and apple. Taste follows with fruit, cracker, bread, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Fairly bitter finish. Crisp, clean, refreshing, flavorful finish. Grainy and sticky light to med body. A little too yeasty for a kolsch but it's enjoyable. 3.56

The pizza here is orgasmic. Sweet Carolina: Tomato sauce, Bradd’s sweet Italian sausage, roasted peppers, spinach, mozzarella, fresh ricotta, and parmesan
    [IMG]

Foothills good ship wit. This is great stuff. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine juice, lime, ginger, coriander, citrus peel, peppercorn, pear, light banana/bubblegum/clove, wheat, bread, and yeast earthiness. Light to med bitter/spicy finish. Light tangy/tart yeast. Creamy/grainy lt med body. Drying sticky hops. Refreshing. Spot on wit as expected.4

Last new beer for the weekend. Don de Dieu from Unibroue.

Poured at fridge temp from a 750ml bottle. Pours a murky yellow with a lot of white head. Nose is banana, apple, orange, wheat, yeast, honey, a bit of toffee. Really nice. The taste is fantastic. Nicely follows the nose with orange, vanilla, bread, and a nice hoppy bite at the end. This is quite minimal, but something that wasn't on the nose. Wheat, grass, lemon, honey. So smooth and crisp. Alcohol is really not detectable. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied. Overall, this is definitely a favorite. I don't see it often, so I will have to go hunting.

Evening all! I have a few newbeers I am hoping to get to this evening. We shall see ...
First up is Westmalle Tripel. One of the glaring holes in my beer drinking history (yea, I've never had this one.)

Pours a cloudy bright orange color. Mostly opaque with a moderate amount of suspended sediment. Thick two finger white head forms on the beer, settles in, then dissipates leaving just a thin layer of foam on top of the beer. The aroma on this is lovely - it has notes of malts, white grape, apple, pear, some light banana, and some floral hop notes. Its subtle, refined, yet complex.

The taste follows the nose with notes of rich malts, belgian yeast that leans into the fruity side of things with notes of apple, pear, white grape and just a hint of banana. Along with the fruity notes come some spiced notes - clove, allspice and peppercorn. Moderately spicy, but not overly so. There is a moderate bitterness on the finish with a light floral character. Feel is medium bodied, smooth, and somewhat warming. Very carbonated with a bright, lively mouthfeel.

Overall this is an outstanding tripel and one I will absolutely revisit.

    look: 4.25 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.75 | overall: 4.5 = 4.51 (rDev +4.9%)

Urban Growler (Saint Paul, MN) a "Women Owned" brewery, stated so on the can.
Notes on the can: Nothing welcomes springtime as deliciously as Maibock. Vibrant and malty with classic noble hops. Born in Bavaria, Brewed in St Paul.

Not really sure what the ABV is, it seems like about 6.2%. Note "Bock Bock" which is on tap now is a different beer.
    Tested from 16oz can.
Look: almost transparent gold body, Nice head that fades but never goes away leaving lacing till the end.
Smell: sweet malt/bread, some sweet floral hops
Taste Sweet malt, bread, hint of honey comb, Floral hops with a hint of herbal and citrus. Smooth and somewhat sweet but becomes more bitter, earthy and grass on the finish. It could be the Noble hops kicking on.
Feel: nice, soft and slightly creamy, plenty of carbonation from the depth of the mug

This is different than most American/local Maibocks. It has some character to it. The flavor might not be to the liking of some, but I like it. 3.98+/5

I have not been to the tap room in maybe 5 years, I might have go there and try bock bock and fish fry.

Next up is Victory - Sour Monkey a "sour tripel"

Pours a cloudy, but not at all opaque light golden color. Thin, weak white head forms then fizzles out rather quickly. Aroma is interesting - it is got some citric tart notes, but then you get the spice from the tripel base. The combination of the gives it this green apple like aroma with some notes of nutmeg, allspice and clove. It's different, but not bad.

Taste follows the nose with notes of green apple, apple, allspice, and some lighter malt notes with notes of the belgian yeast and an overarching moderate tartness. Feel is lighter, somewhat crisp, and bright with the tartness. Moderate carbonation - noticeably less carbonated that what I expect from the style.

Overall it is an interesting beer - unique and different - but not one that I personally would drink again.

Wow, truth be told I'm not always the most appreciative hophead when it comes to Nelson. Having said this, Wow!
Beautiful fluffy white head abounds. Turbid swirl of golden straw looks downright roiled. Great retention, and loads of lacing.
Smell pumps a nice mix of mango, papaya, grapefruit, lemon, bright lime, and some very intriguing herbal pepper and tropical notes that I can't quite put words to.
The flavor moves forward with a flavor version of what testing a lime smells like. But instantly, mango and papaya are right there. Wet grass, lemon, juniper, peach, and blueberry pop in as well. All carried forth by a almost sweet creamy grain note.
This is where flavor and mouthfeel come together. Almost fluffy.
Active carbonation, medium feel, slightly dry bittering finish. And again, a bit fluffy.
    Overall, this one is amazing.

This is going to be the last one for me this evening: St. Bernardus Tripel.

Pours a cloudy, but not completely opaque ange color. Two to three finger sudsy white head forms on the beer. The head settles in and dissipates somewhat, but never fully disappears. A half inch layer of velvety foam remains on the beer and shows excellent retention. Aroma has notes of malt, clove, pepper, spice and some belgian yeast notes. It is not really fruity at all on the nose leaning on the malt and spice notes.

Taste follows the nose with notes of malt, belgian yeast, clove, with subtle notes of apple and banana. Much like the nose, it leans heavily on the spiced notes. There is a certain alcohol warmth to the beer that is more felt than tasted. Feel is light to medium bodied. Smooth and bright. Heavily carbonated.

Overall this is a very nice tripel - I like that it leans more into the spiced notes which seems somewhat unique based on the ones I have had this weekend.

    look: 4.5 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.25 = 4.17 (rDev -1.7%)

Yeah, like I said, I'm not big on Nelson but this one did have so much going on and the nelson contributed to the total package. It was stellar.
