Boy, winnowing it down to just 5 is a challenge:

    Not specifically in order:
    • Pilsner (I like all kinds - see link below*)
    • Saison
    • Czech Dark Lager
    • Belgian Trappist/Abbey style ales
    • West Coast IPA
And I have to award an 'honorable mention' to English Bitter Ale (preferably on cask).

    Cheers!

I was all gung ho when I first joined beeradvocate. I wasn’t so much a “ticker” as I wanted to try as many styles of beer I could get my hands on. If I had the money I spent on Belgians and all styles German that one year? I pretty much know what I like now and these are my top beer styles.

    WCIPA/Pale Ales
    German Pilsner
    Czech Pilsner
    Belgian Tripel
    Oktoberfest

Yes, those Belgian beers (especially Trappist beers) are quite pricey.

Permit me to offer a 'solution' here: homebrewing.

At the moment I have the following homebrewed Belgian style beers in my basement:
    • Dubbel
    • Saison
    • Quad
    • Clone of Orval
And as long as you can conduct a proper, healthy fermentation it is really the selected yeast strain which 'does all the work' here.

    Cheers!

That is one impressive tap list you have there! You must be a seasoned home brewer to be able to brew your very own Orval clone. Have you ever been employed as a professional brewer?

I did attempt to home brew my own beer at one time. Again, right around the time I joined beeradvocate a member suggested to go ahead and try to give home brewing a shot just like you suggested. I bought the John Palmer book How To Brew and attempted to brew the basic pale ale. The DIPA I brewed turned out a lot better. It had a bubble gum taste, not sure why? But it was fun sharing bottles with friends and for the most part I got positive feedback. I ended up giving the home brewing equipment to another BA and he gave it to his dad.

    Cheers!

I've had all 114 styles, and liked most of them. If I disliked any, I've made it a point to try more examples. I used to despise BA stouts, sours and IPAs now they're favorites.

    Stout - American Imperial 23.18%
Sour - Fruited Kettle Sour 11.21%
    Stout - Sweet / Milk 5.98%
    IPA - New England 5.53%
    Stout - Russian Imperial 4.85%
