I was a voyeur on this thread, then went to Philly myself last weekend to meet up with two old friends. So I feel I owe you all a little something for your efforts. Thanks everyone.

I went with non-craft friends, so that sets me up for a bit of frustration here and there. Non-craft friend #1 just wanted to hang at the random Irish pub that happened to be a block from our air bnb. 'Merica.

I liked Monk's and could have sat there a while if it was up to me. I had my first Pliny in maybe 6 years, and it was just what the doctor ordered.

Jose Pistola's was a nice hang, too. Non-craft friends had plenty to enjoy here but complained about the burger. I questioned their decision-making for not getting Mexican food at a Mexican restaurant.

Did a quick run to Fermentary Foam and Human Robot with non-craft friend #2 (who was happy to go for a ride and see what was up). Had a great quick pour at FF and I picked up a bunch of bottles to enjoy with friends at home. Compare pics of the alley with random shots of Mariupol, Ukraine and you may not notice much of a difference.

Friends were cool with heading back to HR for some beers. Tried to enjoy a couple while non-craft friend #1 just sat there pouting a bit. No bueno. Back to the Irish pub, I guess.

I said goodbye to the boyz yesterday morning and then did a Tired Hands pickup and an Imprint stop. Tried two Imprint IPAs that were very nice and two fruited sours that were pretty comparable to the stuff (Mortalis) that I get in my neck of the woods. Real nice servers there. All four places (Fermentery Form, Human Robot, Tired Hands and Imprint) will see me again.

So: fun, quick trip. Odd to just leave Philadelphia and feel like I could really use a weekend in Philadelphia. But my family says they'd come with me, and it's just 4 hours. So until next time...

If you're ever back in Philly with those two, send them to the Black Sheep, it's an Irish Pub (great one too) a block from Monk's up Latimer St/alley. If you take Latimer a block in the other direction, you're across the street from Jose's. Jose's is one of the great Philly bars, but I have to mention the place next door, McGlinchey's. What a dump, great place. The Jose's crew have opened a brewpub in the burbs called Troubles End, highly recommended.

Told a friend about FF, and he took his girlfriend there without telling her about the alley. She told me she thought he was going to murder her there. "When you see an alley like that in a movie, nothing good happens."

Ended up hitting Monk's on Saturday before I headed to CT for the next show. Quite the cool little place. Got their house Flemish Sour and a Jolly Pumpkin Saision that I'm forgetting the name of, along with the Thai Curry mussels to eat. I found their bottle list to be quite accurate, unlike many have said before, but unfortunately many of the rarer bottles were not allowed to be purchase for takeout :slight_frown:

Ha I get a kick whenever I send someone to the Form Alley. I will say that in another year that area should be fully developed and almost unrecognizable. You can actually have a nice little day just literally staying right there at that intersection and hit Form, Stateside Vodka and Four Humours
