    So I first learned of Doner Kebabs because, for a time, I followed TheLocal.de to keep up with German news and work on my German. Doner Kebabs were quite popular due to the high number of Turkish immigrants, but also somewhat controversial, as some claimed they were displacing native German culture and food.

    There's a larger parallel there with German refutation of Turkish immigrants overall, and perhaps a larger narrative about German nativist sentiment, but that's certainly never caused any problems before ... :thinking_face:

    Anywhoo, you might be shocked to learn that the Doner Kebab is the antecedent to the Greek Gyro (among other dishes). Yes, the Doner Kebab is the OG of Gyros and Brazilian Steakhouses, and the Gyro was named quite literally because of rotating (rotisserie) meat.

    I am ridiculously behind at work, yet I just spent 13 minutes watching this dude and it was worth every second. We need to figure out a way to get him into the next BIF. My favorite line at the very end? "If it's in a pita is it a sandwich? I don't know, I don't know. I don't know the rules. I don't know the f-in rules. But I'm writing one today. The rule is, you make this, someone's getting pregnant."
