Has inflation caused the price of a lap dance to go up as well?

We’re four pages in and I still don’t know what everyone’s talking about.

I think it's the credit limit on the card your pantry butler uses to keep the various bars stocked? But I can't figure out if I'm supposed to include the cost of having the chafeur keep the car bar stocked with Dom P and BBT or not?

Philly recently-ish instituted a lap dance tax, aka an amusement tax, but it was deemed double taxation as patrons were charged admission.

Speaking for friends, I’m not from Philly.

I just got my merit increase, 3.25%, it isn’t enough to cover inflation costs. So, even though I am making more money my buying power is less. That’s a downer.

I've had the luxury of not needing to buy 4/6/12 packs cuz Sunset Beer is a short walk from me and they have a great rotating selection of singles. They're closing next month so now im fucked.

I don't really have a beer budget but I have tried to cut back a bit regardless. I tend to buy beer by the single can/bottle instead of getting a 4/6/12/etc pack. I usually pick up 2 beers at a time 4 or 5 days a week. I have been paying more attention to cost lately and found that one of the bottle shops in my area has cheaper prices than the one I normally visit. I have been visiting both places for years and I am not sure when the price disparity occurred. Maybe some places raised their prices during COVID, or maybe it has always been that way and I never noticed. I always thought most of the places that sell singles have always been about the same but maybe my memory is off.

Anyway, I am accustomed to paying a little more for singles but the price difference between the two places is usually $3-$4 per trip. As a result I've been making fewer trips to my normal bottle shop. It all adds up.

Since I retired in mid-January, I am finding myself drinking more stuff from my cellar, and re-looking at less expensive options (like a Stroh's Classic 30 pk for $21)....even PBR though has gone up in price - was $8.99 / 12 - now $12.99

I never could see paying huge prices for most of the "trendy" 4 pk / 16 oz cans - just ridiculous....
(and lets keep politics out of it - see above # 80 ^^)

Not at all. I live within my means to be able to enjoy the finer things in life. IE) good beer, vacations, etc.

@JackHorzempa I decided to indulge yours (and admittedly my own) curiosity.

Last month I spent nearly $400 on beer alone. That doesn't include beer I may have purchased at restaurants, a concert...etc.

However the only other hobbies I have outside of beer are public speaking and working out. Those both are virtually free. So there's that I guess?

    Thank you for sharing.

Assuming that last month was a typical month then that translates to an annual budget for "beer alone" of $4800.00. You recognize there are other beer related expense such as restaurants, concerts, beercations to Portland, etc.

If you are able to swing this along with saving (which you discussed previously) then my 'answer' is:

    Cheers to you!! :beers:

FWIW -- in contrast; a rough, and very liberal estimate of my beer spending last month comes to around $60. Thanks for helping me feel better about "keeping on budget."

    No, because I don’t have a beer budget. I should, but I don’t.

God I wish I did too- Unfortunately i'm hooked on the style right now... Is funny though that all breweries seem to have similar price tags for these when some aren't even close in quality, rep, etc. I don't think putting a bunch of hops, adjuncts and a funky looking can always should command such a steep price tag.

I do not have a beer budget. However, I have definitely cut back on buying four and six packs over $13, which is a real bummer. :grimacing:

Hey @JackHorzempa , so how many gallons do you home brew per year and out of curiosity approximately how much do you share?
    Cheers!

Jack is an amazing brewer, I'm lucky enough to have tasted some of his beers and my comment on all of them is deeeeelicious.

Since this is a public forum, and in the interest of humor, I'm going to suggest that Jack likely brews less than 200 gallons a year. :stuck_out_tongue:
