Good morning and happy Sunday, Weekenders! My last new beer yesterday was Quiet Fire by Fox Farm, and my first new beer today is Quiet Life by the same.

From appearance to aroma, this is a deceptively unassuming beer. It looks really good, but not perfect. It smells ... fine, but there's just not a ton there.

    But oh, on the palate.

This is a wonderfully balanced Czech pilsner (@FBarber I hope this one is on your docket as well; if not, I might need to make a return trip to the brewery  ).

Very flavorful, with the light pale malt base leading the way, but without too much sweetness. It's just smooth, with notes of white bread, cracker, and honey, as well as a slight touch of grass. Then all of a sudden, roughly near the back third, the bitterness comes through, carrying notes of bark and grass. It's not aggressively bitter, but it does a very nice job of readying you for the next sip, creating a freshness and liveliness not presented by the mouthfeel itself.

Medium bodied; not overly or aggressively lively. Fairly long finish despite the late bitterness, with a nice Noble hop aftertaste.

This is an awesome way to start the day. :grinning:

Ah The New Beer Sunday thread! That blessed time of the week to sit down with a pint between an alpha male to do list of watching baseball and small home repairs with one foot up on something and nothing getting accomplished.

    Creemore Springs Premium Lager.

I cannot say I haven’t had this beer before; but its been more than 20 years and I know it can’t be the same brew; nor would I have the same pallet from such aforementioned time ago.

I believe Creemore Springs was the first craft brewery to sell itself to Molson Brewing company back in the late 90’s. I remember all the turkeys that would swear off never drinking this beer again; calling them sell outs and calling it to be swill.

Again, all Molson did was increase distribution.

Creemore Springs lager pours with strong amber colour and a 2 inch thick sticky froth sits atop it. Surging little bubbles of carbonation visible from the side of the glass.

Notes under the nose are of caramel and light collision of cascade hops. Raisin notes come through as well. We’re looking good, but this is shaping up more like an American Amber Ale than a lager.

The Taste is rich and sweet. Pecan pie sweetness and chewy raisins and prunes.

Creemore Springs (Lager on the front of the can/ Amber Lager on the reverse of the can) finishes with a full malt madness mouthfeel. Its not heavy in alcohol at 5% but drinks as if its properly built in the mid 6% range

A nice beer! A pleasant surprise. I’d have this again with some roast chicken with oven roasted potatoes and carrots

Overall - the style confuses me i’m not sure what i’m drinking here but i’d certainly get it again

Happy New Beer Sunday everyone! Keep having a real good day!!!

[IMG] Two of my NH favorite local brewery’s Kettlehead Brewing and Modestman Brewing collaborating with a NEDIPA. Pours a very attractive yellow with a 2 finger sticky white head that leaves a thick collar of lace with great retention. 4.75

Aroma is mandarin, cantaloupe, pineapple, passionfruit, a hint of coconut, and apricot. 4.5

Taste follows mandarin, cantaloupe, pineapple, passionfruit, a little coconut, and apricot 4.5

Mouthfeel is above average, soft gentle creamy carbonation, not sticky or dry, and at 8.5% ABV huge flavor but really easy going down after a long day. 5

Overall this is awesome, but my expectations where through the roof. I think 10 more days in the can and it will come together even better. 4.5 Cheers all.

@WunderLlama sent me a lovely beer that sounded like a good breakfast: Quadruple Shot from Tree House.

I took more pictures than usual of this beer. It's gorgeous. Not sure the photos do it justice, but I'll share anyway.

12oz can served in a footed pilsner glass. Dated 06:24:21.

Pours black and thick. Looks like filthy motor oil when pouring. No liveliness at all. Until I finished pouring, and some carbonation finally struggled to the surface to form a maybe two or three millimeter thick layer of possibly the darkest head I've even seen. That has faded after a few minutes, now it's a more reasonable dark tan color that forms a medium thickness, dense creamy ring around the edges, and an amazingly equilateral triangle island in the center. This beer looks amazing.

Smell is cinnamon, maybe a sugary sweetness, and lots of very dark coffee. The more it sits, the more the coffee seems to come out.

Taste is very, very sweet. Very chocolatey. A little cinnamon, some vanilla. Lots of coffee -- luckily enough to prevent the sweetness from being overwhelming, it has some bitterness that struggles through the sweetness late in the game. As it warms up, I'm getting more of the cinnamon, but between the powerful sweetness and the powerful coffee, it hasn't overwhelmed me yet (an impressive feat for a cinnamon beer).

Mouthfeel is thick, still, smooth, chewy. Overall, this is a very good beer.

[IMG] Poured into a 16 oz Snulip glass, not sure when it was canned. Pours a very attractive purplish pink with a finger off white head that leaves little to no lace. 4.25

Aroma is açaí and I actually used to drink a lot of it so I know that flavor, blueberry, granola, banana, mango, and strawberry. 4

Taste follows açaí, blueberry, granola, banana, mango, and strawberry but I think the granola and banana kind of clashed giving it a strange after taste. 3.5

Mouthfeel is above average, plenty of life, a tad dry, and at I believe 7% loaded with flavor, but easy enough going down. 4

Overall this is another very good sour from this series, but again a strange after taste that is hard to describe. 3.75

Another Fox Farm lager in my glass, and this one is a spectacular Kellerbier.

Föhn clocks in at a nice 5.6% ABV, and drinks with a body on the heavier side of light, the result being that you could crush it if so inclined, but just as easily choose to sit, sip, and savor - as I choose to do.

Incredibly packed with flavor, with tasting notes of white, wheat, and rye bread, white grape, honeysuckle, pepper, toast, grass, bark, basil, and earth. It's an absolutely lovely beer.

I have not had that one ... I had Gather their German pilsner a couple times.

wow! you were even higher on rDev than I was!

This one was just sublime. In general, I think Suarez Family does traditional German lagers better than Fox Farm, but it's close. Quiet Life and Quiet Fire were good examples: excellent, but still with room to go. Föhn was remarkable (is - I'm still drinking it and loving every sip!).

I would agree with that - the Suarez lagers I have had were all incredible. Fox Farm's lagers were great, but a notch below.

I've only had two Suarez beers, and they were both gueuze-style beers, both good.

Sounds like I'm missing out on lagers, though? I've been *super* impressed with every Fox Farm I've had.

Rogue is to rouge as pallet is to palate is to palette. I always really enjoyed Rouge Hazelnut Brown. On the pallet this BBA stout is too woody!

    @FBarber

I think Fox Farm's sours are top-notch. I think that's one major area of strength. Their lagers are awesome, but their saisons, farmhouse ales, and sours are awesome.

Their IPA game leaves plenty of room for improvement, but we have more than enough breweries nationwide that put out excellent IPAs.

I will be not be playing this weekend. Wicked head cold, thankfully not Covid, but the senses are pretty dulled. I couldn't do any beer justice right now.

Next weekend, however, Sunday will make my 500th review assuming my math is correct counting up my 30 or so "ticked" beers, subtracting from the total, dividing by 9 multiplying by Pi.... I've got some stashed beers that aren't in the ancient category...CBS, a bottle of Orval, and some pretty fresh sours from Allagash...and there's always the store!

It's not a huge milestone compared to some, but it is for me. If anybody told me I would have reviewed or even tried 500 new beers when I got on this BA boat, would have said they were crazy. NBS/W has helped drive the curiosity by providing this weekly platform, and I appreciate having the opportunity to participate.

Cheers all, play nice, see ya next weekend.
