Hmm, yes. Sublime, aged, and perky. We have an unknown beer age, It all seems to work. Rustic and tasty.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

...a fine, unknown age saison from Trinity Brewing...I hope the new brewer, Jonathan Taylor continues some of these local classics such as this...on the same token, I hope his new twist on things go well, too...he shared a sample of his barrel-aged Awaken stout with me the other week (I forget the details of what he added) prior to the barrel being tapped...all I'll say is that it was amazing....

#2, beer AND glassware courtesy of @jonphisher, in a style of beer I don’t have very often.

    I need to correct that.

This English style pub ale pours a beautiful mahogany brown with a creamy, light tan head that sticks around and laces the glass nicely. The nose is led by toffee and caramel notes and there is indeed a black tea note as well.

The black tea is in the background on the taste, with the caramel and toffee notes leading the way, and they are truly delicious. There’s also a bit of a roasty flavor, which I didn’t expect, but welcomed - just a ton of flavor packed into this low ABV (3.8% ABV) ale.

This is my 7th mild ale, and I love it - I’m pretty sure if I ever go to England with Mrs O, I’d gain 92 lbs, because these ales are outstanding, IMHO.

More new Canadian beer from @Coronaeus! The Granite's Best Bitter.

16oz can served in a pint glass. No date.

Pours a dark amber, clear, with a big head that fades into a pillowy coarse pile. Smell is nutty, tannin bitterness, wet forest floor.

Taste is a little bit of oxidation (wet cardboard), but not super strong. Nutty / woodiness is much stronger, bitterness comes across very woody, still a vague wet earthiness.

Mouthfeel is light and clean. This is a nice beer.

Good evening! First new beer today is Dunwich from Trve Brewing in Colorado. A porter coming in at 5.3% ABV. Thanks to @beergoot for sending this one!

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a nice dark brown - almost black. Lots of fluffy tan head. Nose is smooth roasted malts, a bit of tobacco, and a nice nutty note. Milk chocolate comes through as well. Very nice!

The taste is super smooth. Nicely follows the nose. Roasted malts, slight tobacco, toffee, chocolate, and a slight bitterness on the back end. Really nice balance of sweet and bitter. Mouthfeel is light to medium. Overall, a really fantastic porter.

A little surprised you're already familiar with Abomination, but quite happy. FWIW, they seem to be pretty settled in with Twelve Percent Beer Project nowadays, located in the Hartford, CT area. (All of their beers for the past couple of years have been canned in CT.)

Offshore ale lazy frog. Great west coast. Red grapefruit, orange, pineapple, apricot, melon, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, caramel, toast, bread, herbal, floral, grass. Large sized pine/rind bitterness. Creamy/bready med body. Sticky/resin lasting long drying finish. Feels like Columbus and centennial. Spot on style. 4

    Chocolate Cherry Bomb
    [IMG]
    8.2% stout from Ellicottville Brewing

Twelve ounce bottles pours dark black with a decent initial head then little lacing thereafter.

Given the beer's name, the expected nose is chocolate and cherry. Smells inviting to me. Avoid if chocolate forward is not your thing.

The body's flavor follows nose and adds malty char/coffee notes. A welcome addition to the confectionery disposition of the aroma.

Mouthfeel was pleasant and the sweetness did not steer towards cloying as the initial sweetness might have suggested. Smooth.

Overall a good dessert stout for fans of chocolate and cherry. Others steer clear.

Five pages and we're still going...Yesterday I grabbed a single of slack tide's brown ale and posted about it, loved it! I wanted their black IPA so after last nights experience I drove 6 minutes down the road to grab a six of their black IPA. They don't date anything  but they did just win an award for this beer recently so I'm hoping this is somewhat fresh. Here we go...

Slack Tide - Knockdown (cascadian dark/black IPA)

Beautiful deep dark brown, almost black, edges show brown only when held to light. Another great head, just like last nights brown. Settles into grand canyon topography with just crazy lacing and retention. I'm really not sure what they do with their beers but thats two for two insane retention and lace.

Aroma is an intense shot of espresso, dark dark chocolate, pine needles and a grapefruit like citrus note.

The taste mirrors the nose but the hop notes shine more than the coffee and chocolate, this is reverse from the nose. There is a lot of resin/sappy vibes that really stand out and linger for a long time on the finish after this one goes down.

Medium body, noticeably dry finish a a pinecone like bitterness that really shines. This beer is 8.3% and I notice the slightest warming sensation in the back of my throat. It is probably one of the only knocks I have on this beer. A very drinkable black IPA, I use the word drinkable in the sense that goes down quite easy and if it were not for the ABV I could easily drink another of these.

Thank you @MacMalt for posting this brewery so many times, I'm on the train and can't wait to try more of their beers. I'm not sure if this one is old or not, so lucky for me it doesn't matter cause it tastes delicious. If its newer, good, if its older and still this tasty then its a testament to the brewery.

See you all next week, hope you all have a good and non hectic week.

Another direction and should be a great dessert beer to a great meal.
Prairie Pirate Weekend Stout aged in Rum Barrels with Cacao Nibs, Coconut and Marshmallow.
Pours a motor oil black with virtually no head.
Aroma is dark chocolate fudge, Coconut and a hint of rum barrel.
Taste follows with dense, dark German chocolate cake, some hints of coffee but the rum barrel presents it self alot more in the taste - a bit of a dark blackstrap rum/molasses like richness. Sweet it is from the marshmallow but it does finish with a little coffee bean like acidic bitterness. Theres a hint of vanilla in there as well.
Of course at 14% theres some booziness in there but its drinking very easily.
Thick and heavy bodied, syrupy, sugar smacking on the lips. Low carb.
Well it certainly fits dessert for me. The rum is decent in this especially as it warms. Its 10 bucks and change a bottle. I enjoyed it. Im not huge on big sweet stouts but I do like to occasionally visit. Certainly would give it a go again especially since Im a rum lover.
One thing I always wonder about marshmallow adjuncts (which seems to be popular currently, even in some other styles) is what that actually means. Why? Because marsmallows (these days) are basically sugar, gelatin and vanilla or artificial flavoring. So we are adding sugar and flavors to the brewing process....not sure if thats something I would run with often. Anyhow,
    good brew.
My finished dish tonight of Flame Peppers filled with my Adobo Bison and Black Beans sprinkled with Queso Fresco and served atop Lime Crema, alongside fresh Guac and Pico di Gallo with Maui Onion. Garnished with Micro Cilantro.
Cheers folks. May have one more on the lighter side before the night ends.

Thanks guys. We are here all week to the 10th when we fly out of Boston again.

For another round of apps at offshore ale. Most boxed for later after I get stoned. We are coming back here before we leave.

Offshore islander. Great dipa. Red grapefruit, orange, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, melon, apricot, berry, citrus peel/rind, wood, pepper, pine, caramel, toast, biscuit, herbal, floral, grass. Good size pine/rind bitter. Creamy/bready med full body. Drying sticky resins. No astringency. Light warmth of 8%. Feels like centennial and Citra hops. Great west coast style. 4

Next up is Banaananen, a rum BA stout from Põhjala in Estonia. Poured at fridge temp. Pours jet black with minimal head. Nose is intense banana! It's amazing. Once that intensity fades (from smelling it for a few minutes), the rum notes really come through. Roasted malts, brown sugar, black licorice, blackberries, and chocolate. Really interesting. Can't wait to taste this one!

The taste is super complex. So much going on. It's tough to even digest all of the competing flavors. Lots of sweetness, but lots of bitterness. Sharp boozy note. To me, this isn't a bit all over the place. Does it taste good? Absolutely. Cane sugar, banana, chocolate, sharp wood, roasted malts, rum, slight hoppy note, and walnuts. The sharp edges do actually fade as I get deeper into the glass. The chaos seems to get streamlined. I start to get a coconut taste after a while.

Mouthfeel is pretty thick, but certainly not overly creamy like some big BA stouts. Overall, this is a really interesting rum BA stout. Definitely worth picking on up to try it. Would I buy another? Probably not. Cheers all.

    Good evening NBW
    [IMG]
    Double Soft Parade by Shorts

12oz canned 2/10/2022 poured into a teku glass at 47° Fahrenheit, no ABV listed on label. The beer pours mostly bright, rose in color with very light pink head. Sparce lacing. The aroma is moderate in strength featuring all the berries as promised on the can. The taste is semi tart berry wine with a hint of malt and negligible hop flavor or bitterness. The mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied with average carbonation and a semi dry finish. Alcohol is fairly well hidden for an alleged 10% ABV beer. Overall, very unbeery, yet enjoyable for what it is.

    Cheers all!

Normally this is one I would save for my SAN group, but as it was only 12.7 oz, I figured I'd treat myself tonight.
This came from @colts9016 as part of his barrage of beer in NBW BIF #15. I've been curious ever since I took it out of the box. Well, here goes!
Poured black, as in pitch black and the head formed for the photo and then was gone. There isn't even any lacing!
The aroma was bourbon and maple. I'm sure there was some stout in there as well, but mostly it was bourbon and maple syrup.
The taste follows, with the addition of the pecans. I didn't expect to taste them, but they are indeed there. The bourbon from the barrel aging seems almost too strong as it's overpowering the base beer a bit, and they really layed in the maple syrup.
The feel - well, at 18.5 abv, you expect some viscosity. This has it. To the proverbial hilt.
OA, it's a treat, a pastry stout that makes no bones about it. The label makes it clear what you are getting and you get it all.
Very nice way to close my day out, thank you Jammin!

After brewing beer today, I figured I would try this. Westbrook Makes some tasty beer. I am confused by this beer. Is it really a Gose, or something else.
What is it, it is a warm baked apple pie with cinnamon and vanilla with some lemons and salt? I will admit it is tasty and I did enjoy it.
