What beer are you drinking now? #3456

Greetings fello advo's - I'd just received a half & half case of Zundert (L) and Rochefort (R) tripels, both of which i've yet to sample... so i thought, why not put 'em to a "battle of the Trappists" blind taste-test... both have interesting and appealing qualities - the Zundert, more burnished copper color and modest head/lacing, leaves me with more sweet-n-smokey impressions... while the Rochefort, more pale with lingering head/lacing, is much more piney and "spriggy"... very unique strain of hops in the mix here.

Final analysis? I don't really favor one over the other, both have their charms!

Lunch beer - Other Half’s “More Nelson Than Nelson” NE TIPA from the NZ Hops Week Series:



Canned 3/4/22. Creamy white dome sits atop a hazy, milky pale gold body; good cap retention, solid plus ring, bands of medium heavy lacing. Nose upon opening can is grapefruit and pineapple, followed by skunk weed; more skunk as beer warms. Sweet tropical fruit; white grape must; earthy skunky finish; no bitterness. Creamy soft feel; full fluffy body; no astringency; no warmth from 10.5% abv; light carbonation. Overall, the flavor is ok (sweet fruit) but the overall taste is a bit skunky and linger unappealing; more importantly, the nose is off-putting to me - I can barely finish this beer because of the stink; one and done.

Methinks he skipped lunch.

 

I've always loved baseball and was really into Little League and Babe Ruth
League, but the 1959 Sox took everything to another level for me.
My two best memories are going to Twi-Night Doubleheaders with all the guys in our family.
If the Yanks were in town, we were there. The Yanks of the 60's with that loaded lineup!
Then I started going to day games with my buds. On school days. We'd take buses to 35th and Shields and buy cheap centerfield tickets, then sneak in behind home plate. We'd get kicked out of the area over and over. Then we'd get stubs from early leavers and give the ushers a hard time.

Apparently, today is National Beer Day!

 

Good afternoon BA's! A windy low 60's day here south of Asheville.
Forgot that i had RR sours in the beer fridge so popped the cork on Temptation, an ale aged in Chardonnay barrels. Initially came across with Sweet Tart/Sour apple but then the barrel kicks in and finishes very dry and oaky. Definitely an ale my wimpy sour papillae can handle LOL!
Da Boss is spinning her Amazon tunes and been hearing a lot of Sheryl Crow today. Going back to the first tune that caught my ear a minute or two ago.

Wax Wings Knows Not What it Means DIPA at the source. I’d place these guys as top tier for IPA’s, especially in the Midwest. Better than any Hop Butcher IPA’s I’ve had recently to be honest.
