The other day I came home from work, and was anticipating opening my very first Jewbelation Bittersweet Lenny's R.I.P.A. I imagined what the flavor might be like, and I was mostly right: the high abv would mesh nicely with the spicy rye flavor, and of course be bursting with malt and hop awesomeness! An epiphany came to me; I just really must like rye in beers! I noticed that my rating for Sierra's Ruthless Rye was way over the average rating, and of course Alpine's Nelson is all kinds of amazing. I also enjoyed Hop Rod Rye. What other beers should I seek out in the spirit of catching some more rye?

GI Mild Winter has always been a go-to for me. Love it. Have not picked up this years yet. Hope the ogre did not mess with the recipe.

Founders Reds Rye is a classic. One of my first crafts and still one of my favorite.

I had a chance to try Founder's Red Rye on the West Coast, but the pub was all out by the time I got there. Hopefully it will return. Founders, please come to West Coast permanently!

IMHO Sierra Nevada's Ruthless Rye is the best I've had in terms of robust rye flavor, with Two Brothers' Cane & Ebel coming in at a close second. Hop Rod Rye and Red's Rye P.A. are fantastic as well, but I felt that the rye notes that they expressed were a bit underwhelming.

I'm still not sure I know what rye tastes like. Almost every rye beer I've had has been really hoppy, and those that weren't had caraway in them.

Rye beers are pretty good. I always think that I won't like them, because it's "rye", but I'm always surprised.
