Did a blind Taste test with north park birdie to bogey, highland park timbo and highland park high 8 west coast pils. High 8 was first with birdie coming in second then timbo. Really surprised because all beers had a ton of flavor and I love timbo but timbo seemed like a hop bomb compared to the others. I love hops but the other 2 were so much easier to drink with a lot of flavor.

    Agree.
The hoppy lagers or IPL’s are such a balancing act. The hoppiest isn’t necessarily the best. And hops fade over time further complicating things.

Mother of God...Enegren and Moonlight have collaborated. From Enegren's Instagram:

April 23rd, 2022 is the 506th Anniversary of the Reinheitsgebot and just so happens to be the same day as Frühlingsfest where we will be releasing this year's American Reinheitsgebot American Dark Lager

This year we teamed up with @moonlightbrewing of Santa Rosa to brew a Czech Style dark lager using only 4 all American ingredients including Zuper Saazer hops from @hopheadfarms and grain from @admiralmaltings. Though this is not a German style beer it is an ode to Bavarian brewers like Josef Groll who brought his lager Brewing expertise to Bohemia to make some of the best lagers in the world. It will be released at Frühlingsfest on April 23rd with special American Reinheitsgebot Tubinger steins. A limited amount of steins will be available for shipping online.

Enegren and Moonlight and admiral malting and Czech dark lager?! All in one can?!

    Count me the fuck in!

And commemorative steins shipped to your door? I'm not sure there's anything I've ever needed less but had to have more than this.

I picked up my first can of Alvarado Street Citraveza yesterday and opened it tonight.

That is one hell of a beer. Great stuff.

At Eel River brewing drinking their new lager, Misty Mornings. 100% CA malt and dry hopped with Lorien hops from Oregon.

It's nice. I'd call it a B tier effort at the modern west coast hoppy lager. Crisp with a nice floral, lemony note. Decent bready note but it's all kind of 1 dimensional.

I've been trying to support this brewers nascent lager efforts because they seem to be focusing on regionally grown malts and organic ingredients and they are getting better bit by bit. This is definitely an enjoyable beer that would be real pleasant at the river or an afternoon bbq

They got a new brewer about 4 years ago and they've done a good job since. They tried to lean into the hazy thing and that seems to have missed. Now they seem to be working on barrel aging and this lager program/ca malt based beers thing.

Definitely an enjoyable stop. You can hit redwood curtain on your way down for a great spread of ales too.

Their dark beers are great and the work with barrel aging will produce some absolute diamonds. They're still making great beers beyond that too.

Let me know if you do make it down here. I'd love to buy a pitcher and enjoy the patio with you

Popped into Fieldwork in Berkeley yesterday, and I thought their "Stone Castle" pilsner was outstanding. I always try one west coast IPA to start, but I'm mostly interested in their lagers these days.

Just ordered a mix case of Enegren with 2 4pk of the Moonlight collab. While the pricing is far more affordable than other breweries that ship direct, shipping was double that of other mix cases (green cheek, moonlight, NP, etc) so it came out about the same total price.
