So obviously the logistics would be a lot tougher, but is there a keg trading scene? Sure would be nice to get some of the harder-to-get on the West coast beers for my kegerator.

I recall seeing a picture of a keg of Veritas with a FedEx shipping label taped to it, so it's been done. Hopefully someone else can dig the picture up.

How much would the shipping on it be? It'd be safer than trading bottles but the price would be insane.

Yeah, it occurred to me that the best way to do it would be freight shipping - like if you knew a long-haul trucker.

A much easier thing to do would be to take a keg with you next time you go on a road trip and try to set up a fill from a brewery in advance. I know a couple of guys who throw a keg in the back of the truck every time they go somewhere, email the brewer and make a pitch for a fill (some breweries do it no problem), and have returned on multiple occasions with badass beers filed by the breweries. Once they convinced the hotel manager to let them put it in the hotel restaurants walk-in overnight while they were staying there en route home because it was a particularly good hoppy beer.

Shipping a keg freight would we actually very easy. I used to ship motorcycle motors all the time strapped to pallets, wouldn't be much different.

That's still a hell of a box. I wonder if they think you're shipping a body at that weight. Item shipped: chupacabra carcass.

How many boxes of mac 'n cheee would it take to mask the sloshing sound?

A 5 gal corny doesn't actually weigh that much more than 12 750s.

I wouldn't assume that it has been done based on a picture of a keg with a shipping label on it. This possibly could have been taken by one of the Lost Abbey folks shipping the keg to an event (one of the BA festivals comes to mind) for them to pour for guests. Breweries usually have some form of license to ship beer through FedEx/UPS so they can get away with it.....or maybe not.

You want a picture of a keg with a shipping label on it? No problem.

Nah, busy week at school and beer expenditures have been high recently. I've had it a few times and have a buddy with one set aside for me...
