Good afternoon BA's! Another sunny warm day in Western NC with temps pushing 80.
Today i am keeping it light with poker a few hours down the road. Going with an OG beer from Sweetwater, an old school American IPA. Classic taste with the grapefruit and pine hopping. Would make for an adequate beer stock brew.

Drinking Lawson's Double Sunshine Ruby Red Grapefruit. This was a pleasant surprise since I thought I was buying regular Double Sunshine and caught a whiff of grapefruit when I opened the can. It's very good

 

Transient/Saint Errant '20 Maple Barrel Aged No Cake Imperial Stout (cocoa nibs, vanilla, cinnamon, graham cracker). All of the adjuncts are there as it warms. The cinnamon is the most prominent (and I would argue a bit too heavy), followed by chocolate, vanilla, and then graham. The barrel is integrated well into the beer and brings char, oak tannin, bourbon, and slight maple. The base provides bakers chocolate, roasted malt, some tobacco, molasses, and some caramel. Not as sweet as expected; the barrel, despite adding some maple, and cinnamon spice dry out the beer nicely. Very good stuff. Transient knows their stouts.

Da Boss declared she wanted a cocktail while winding down the last few hours of her workday so i could not see her drinking alone so grabbed the last of the Powder Day which is a decent beer but i like SNPA and Dankful better.
Heard this old Black Sabbath song earlier on SiriusXM. Remember being a youngster when my oldest brother discovered it and he was cranking it and driving my father crazy. He ended up moving out not much long after the music volume started going up LOL!

Definitive Ale IPA (Citra, Simcoe, Topaz). My first experience with this brewery. Ripe clementine, passionfruit, yellow grapefruit, berry, cantaloupe, papaya, citrus peel, grass, pine resin, slight dank. Really nice dry and bitter finish. Soft and silky.
Heard nothing but good things about these guys, so had some high expectations and this definitely met it. Heard one of the brewers/owners brewed at Maine Beer Co and another brewer/owner is from Tree House. I could be wrong about that though, but if true, it makes sense. Had no idea so many good breweries were in Portland, Maine. I just might have to make a trip up there one of these days.

 

Finally the sun comes out when I have to go back to work tomorrow.
Rolled a pork loin with herbed goat cheese, roasted peppers and some Umami blend and garlic. Going to smoke roast it with some cherry wood chips.
