I should be buying less beer, but the brews that I want are usually stouts, meaning each one can be upwards of $4.

I just dropped over $200 at the TW. I did get 2 four packs of Old Rasputin Rye and a four pack of FFF coco mungo or some similar name, those were $50. I also grabbed a bunch of local stuff and other oddities. Have spent way too much the last month and will be getting back to trying to hit the $1-1.25 per beer going forward, it’s possible. I start a new job in less than two weeks and they will have me up early so less beer for me. We have also been going out much more than even pre pandemic and at $6-7 a pour it gets expensive. We also grab a few four packs on the way out so add another $30. I would like to get to around $2000 a year on beer, for the health of my wallet and our bodies.

    Enjoy

I've been buying Yuengling. Guess what? It's actually better than I thought. And I sprinkle in a few crafts now and again for variety.

Come to Boston! We see at least $8-9 a pour.

I can't spend twenty bucks for a four-pack, so I have been revisiting the older stuff that still maintained its lower price. I am just now polishing off a twelve-dollar four-pack of Troegs Nugget Nectar, and I would put it up against most new super expensive NEIPAs anytime.
As for the PBR controversy, I was told by a bartender that any cheap beer can be improved with a lime wedge. It's 100% true.

Yes and no. My buying habits are roughly the same. On the other hand, when I've traveled to other parts of the country I couldn't help but notice how much pricier beer in Denver has gotten. It hurts when your food/bar tab is 40% less a state away...and the beer is just as good.

There's a (current) Pabst Blue Ribbon "controversy" ? What is it this time?

Well, it's "true" if you like lime-flavored AAL beer, I suppose, and that would still depend on one's definition of "improved".
