    2022 Perennial BA Sump

    ISO:
    8 cans of Smooj

I think that's close to $4$. Smooj does get distributed locally so I am looking for variety / (lab) Smooj in addition to classics. Open to most any, but would like an Apple Pie, Orange Delight, & Pina Colada at the very least.

Fun Fact: Smooj is one of the top ranked breweries in the world on Untappd and Perennial is not.

I have to look what I have in the fridge, but I can probably do this. I know I don't have Apple Pie. I can check my local store in the next few days plus I will be at Homes on Tuesday to pick up some beers and will see what they have if you're interested.

Let me know. I’d like to try the apple pie if possible so I’ll keep the trade offer open for now. Feel free to shoot me a pm when you know what you have access to. Thanks!

Wow, if there was ever a time for me to care about Smooj this would've been it! But seriously, they couldn't come up with a more appetizing name than Lab Smooj? LOL. Good luck OP. May you get all the Smooj (Smoojes?) your heart desires sir.

These beverages seem marketed for 21-34 year old women who used to collect Hello Kitty with the cute face, catchy name, and sugary flavors. Somewhere along the way something went wrong with 40 year old neck beards like myself trading BA stouts for hard seltzer and rating down 0.25 on Untappd because "it's not really beer". They really Smooj'd their marketing effort...

    ISO: Smooj-Hill Farmstead collaboration

"For this edition of Smooj we laid down the base seltzer in oak barrels for 6-years before bringing them back from their slumber and pouring literal tons of pureed fruit into them. This seltzer honors my Great Auntie Smooj; she was a real mensch. We hope you enjoy this collaboration.

Sometimes makes you wonder if the smoothie seltzers would have taken off as quickly without Untappd. That platform has driven a lot of non-beer hype, as with mead ala Pips.

Seltzer, mead and cider being on the platform begs the question why not wine and whiskey, and more? It's kind of arbitrary and silly. If the answer is because some breweries started making seltzers, it's a poor one, considering how many wineries are also breweries, how many breweries also have distilleries, and that some even make wine.

Neckbeards rate a "good" pale ale 3.5, but a "good" mead 5/5. This is just stupid, even though I've enjoyed a smoother seltzer or two in my day.

Anyway, no losers in this trade.

One thing that cracked me up with untappd was you can’t rate a soda because it’s non-alcoholic. But it will let you rate Abita root beer because it’s made by a beer company.

I have had the same thought. I wish there was 1 venue where you could rate everything - wine, beer, vodka, absinthe, etc. I'm not sure there is a real difference. There are other platforms like Vivino that allow you to take a picture of the wine label and the wine pops up; it would be great if this technology was combined with Untappd.

The problem with Untappd and all beer rating sites, as you mention @Sabtos, is that people don't rate based on styles. That's why you have world class Czech pilsners rated 4.1, while J Wakefield Berliner Weiss's rate over 4.5. Unfortunately when patrons and raters reward breweries for putting cookies (Pear Brandy Leto) and artificial flavors (all modern times), then other breweries follow suit. However, the nice thing about Untappd is it allows you to browse production from breweries you would never usually try. Case in point, I recently got some Fox Farm and thought they were wonderful; I wouldn't have tried them had I not researched them on Untappd.

Anyways, the Untappd wormhole has led me to Smooj. The heart wants what it wants.

Thanks all, trade closed with @LouistheXXIV.

This was all just a rouse to bring down the value of Pear Brandy Leto, wasn't it?

What I would say to someone holding onto a Pear Brandy Leto or even a Monster Tones, be a man! The community is watching. Trade your pastry stout for a real beer. I will send you 8 of the best pilsners you have ever had in return for your single pastry stout.

This will be a perfect gift for my daughter; her name is Pear Brandy.

I know, debating trading for more Cadenza & Triolet. Even their canned offerings are great. Seeing how their barrel program is developing I will have to subscribe to their newsletter. Thanks @gudbrande!

And I hear this year's batch of BA SUMP is really good too. You should add Tropical Trip SMOOJ to your ISO list, tasty too.

Also, their cans showup on Tavour from time to time, that's how we got some of those tropical trip and orange cream out here in Cali.
