@Beersnake1 had just arrived. I got a so radler tangerine.

Awesome. Juicy tangerine, lemon, green apple, wheat, cracker, herbal, grass, pepper, lacto and yeast earthiness. Lt med herbal/grassy bitterness, yeast spicy, and tart/tangy wheat/fruit. Creamy/grainy lt med body. Fairly crisp with drying acid/tang. Very refreshing. Clean lager flavors and not overly lactic. Like a cross of lager and fruit sour. 4.25

Julia got frozen Grove sour. Jammy frozen sour.

On tap at the bruery. Pours brown with a purple hint. Very little head. The nose is huge amounts of jam - blueberry and raspberry. Some nice toffee.

Taste is sweet, definitely a barleywine. Toffee, chocolate, strawberry jam, some nuts, almonds, rice, bread. Really good, but I prefer Mash.

Captains Log What even is time anyway? Our subject made the decision to, as is said on their world, 'solo dome a 22 of barleyshizzle'. Specifically Fremont Brew 6000 Bourbon Barrel Barleywine. The subject enjoyed it, but didn't think it met the standards set by its ancestors: https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/20680/596669/

Two beers, one brand new to me, another a curiosity. Pluck Pluck Pluck is a rice lager sent my way by @beergoot as part of NBS BIF #15. Not only is it a new beer; it's a new style tick! :astonished:

Red Poppy Ale is not technically a new beer, but I scored it back during the period on BA where you could just drop a single number, not unlike Untappd - so while I had a score, I had no review, and no individual attribute scores. @2beerdogs sent me this one also associated with NBS BIF #15.

Pluck Pluck Pluck is delicious. It drinks impressively smooth and balanced. The lime leaf adds a light citrus note to the aroma, but isn't particularly noticeable on the palate. I have no experience with rice lagers, but I do have experience with lagers, and this is an excellent one.

Red Poppy Ale is delicious in a completely different way. It is a true-to-style Flanders Red Ale, one of my favorite styles which I find potent, sour, and complex. Oak and cherries are noticeable, but the main draw is the 80/20 balance of sour to funk. It's a wonderful take on the style, quite potent and sour, and absolutely delicious.

It's also ugly as sin, if you can look past that. :stuck_out_tongue:

    Harmon Puget Sound Porter

Dark, ruby translucence at the edges, small head. Smell is sweet and roasty.

Taste is similar, hint of milk chocolate.

    Mouthfeel is medium. Overall, nice.

Basically a good, clean, standard Porter. Digging it.

Awesome post. FWIW I’m right there with you, on these beers. I almost feel to call it dry hopped prima is misleading as I don’t think it shares much in common. I do think dry hopped prima is also a great beer though. I just cracked a monster from you, sipping now will post and review within the hour.

PS…I already bought another six of prima between me you and mrs that first one was gone.

Pours a mahogany brown, fairly cloudy, with a substantial light tan head. The nose has lots of wheat bread notes and some smoke. Very nice.

That wheat bread is forward on the taste, and is delicious, complemented by a little cocoa flavor and a nice smoky flavor at the back of the palate. The mouthfeel is nicely crisp, and a bit creamy.

What a pleasure it is to drink this beer. Very well done by this “new to me” brewery.

    Austin Street Neverender DIPA
I remember going here when they were newborn on Industrial Drive. My bro and I were at Allagash and Foundation and a little garage door around back a a small barrel system. We were blown away by a 3 to 4% session IPA after drinking all those mac daddies on the street. Theyve come a long way.
Pouring a hazy but not turbid yellow with a nice white lasting head. Nice spots of lacing as well.
Smells of cannabis and grapefruit, lemon, and hints of stonefruit.
Taste follows with tea like flavors, lemon/ grapefruit, pine and pith bitterness. Slight astringency- well accepted. Pilsner malt foundation- mild.
Medium body, tiny carb throughout, stern grapefruit pith bitterness, drying finish. Easily drinks for 8%.
Nicely done bitter EC IPA. No fruitbowl bomb. Nice change. Something different. Like it alot.

The bruery mash and pb with @Beersnake1. Jammy blackberry, dark fruit, caramel, toffee, bourbon, coconut, brown bread; lt choc, smoke, wood, pb, molasses, yeast earth. Light bitter/tannin spice. Not much pb but a lot of jammy berry. Sweet but not cloying finish. Mild warmth. Standard but not outstanding English style barleywine. 4

This beer sent via BIF by @ovaltine let’s just say he sent me a lot of beer. Quite of few of those beers were big beers. I find these poor beers are the ones we all sit on as our cellars grow. Well I’m trying to not let that happen so it has been my goal to try and have one each weekend on Sunday night. Tonight’s is a big one, 16.5% barrel aged adjuncted with macadamia, maple syrup and vanilla. This is not some super sweet pastry stout though, see below…

    Transient Ales - Phase Image

Slow viscous pouring beer, black as night and head non existent after it settles. Something that seems common in barrel adjuncters.

The nose is big on chocolate reminds me of a mocha, a big hit of barrel in the form of some nice heat and char. Less so but there; some sweetness and an almost peanut butter like smell.

Taste follows suit mocha like chocolate vibes, huge barrel presence. The back end and aftertaste is where I pick up other notes. Subtle maple note and the same peanut butter like nose I noticed. It is subtle but there, I’m guessing it’s the macadamia coming out in its own way.

Viscous beer, coffee like bitterness, again huge barrel and some heat both on the tongue and sinus canal going down. The carb is just right for a beer like this, enough to know it’s carbonated but still super smooth.

It is fun trying beers like this and I’m glad I get the opportunity to try and expand my palette and notes. Thanks for sending my way Mike, Sunday nights are for sipping…

Have a good week everyone, see you in a weeks time and we can do it all over again.

Rainy Daze Hypocrite DIPA at HarmonWhy does Harmon only have two of their own beers on tap?

This is clearly west coast. Clear, light gold, medium head. Smell is pine resin and a little honeysuckle.

Taste is similar, lots of pine resin bitterness. Some citrus. Medium floral sweetness.

Mouthfeel is medium and smooth. Scratches that WC itch.

Anchorage Brewing Co. -- Happy Alone
Oat stout finished on coffee, Tahitian vanilla beans, cinnamon, and milk sugar

Dark, heavy color, coal-black and opaque; dense, creamy head, lasting and light brown in color. An amazing aroma combining massive amounts of cocoa, milk chocolate, dark roast coffee and vanilla sweetness. Stunning taste; reemphasizes the smell qualities but adds a zesty cinnamon component and a subtle alcohol presence; sweet and chocolatey. Heavy body, slick and oily in texture; velvety residual sugar; mildly sticky.

A truly amazing and complex oat stout loaded up with adjuncts. Rich and complex and a fine sipper.

    -------------------------------------------------------------

...for some reason, I thought this beer was another Anchorage India pale ale (although I knew it was a stout when I ordered it from Tavour), so after finding it in the beer closet, I thought I'd better cool it down in the refrigerator and drink it up ASAP...silly me...and even sillier for not ordering a few more of these, but I have so many big, dark beers in the beer fridges and beer closet and sitting in the 'Fortress of Solitude' that I just couldn't justify buying more of an unknown beer...

The beers from them are great but i knocked every one on look as well, I was channeling my inner @BBThunderbolt. Definitely not the prettiest beers but I really enjoyed every other aspect of each one I sent. Hope you enjoy the other two as well.

Here’s Glimmen, a smoked Helles from Schilling Beer Co, another lager generously provided by @WunderLlama via NBS BIF #15 (many, many thanks!).

Pours mostly clear darkish gold with a lasting finger of white head and nice lacing. Nose features bread, sweet malt, some grassiness, light smoke. Flavors follow, smoke is very balanced vs what I was expecting based on the label. Good hops presence to round out and keep refreshing. Very clean for a smoked beer, crisp and tasty. Liking Schilling more with each sample.

Fantastic. A lot less boozy than before I had in bottles. Lots of fudge, toffee, molasses, dark fruit, bourbon, lt smoke/char, yeast earth. Lt hop/char bitter, spicy oak. Warming finish. Creamy/silky full body. Lingering sticky chalky tannin drying. Dangerous sipper. 4.25
