Bourbon barrel aged imperial stout with amburana woodchips
ABV: 12.7%; pouring temperature: 53 °F; bottling data: 2022 release; aged in St. George single malt barrels

Deep black body; thin yet creamy light khaki colored head. Big roasted and charred grain smell; a bit of cinnamon and sandalwood in the background. Outstanding milk chocolate flavor with a slightly peated malt note and a small dose of peppery flavor. Heavy body with a gentle velvet-like feel; boozy warmth; dry sweetness.

A nice, relatively straightforward imperial stout. The barrel aging is pretty low-key while the use of amburana woodchips adds a nice mild spiciness to things.

Despite a rough start with this murky pour with large particles floating to the bottom, this pale ale is highly recommended.

The aromas of citrus exploded from the can upon opening, and the flavor was just as impressive with noticeable bitter citrus that is balanced by sweet melon flavors. This is perfect for hot weather as it is immensely quaffable and thirst-quenching. The can states it is also brewed with "malted oat." I wonder if this is responsible for the soft and smooth mouthfeel?

Again, even with a pour that reminded me of urine from a bladder infection, this is almost perfect for hot evenings in Florida. The pale ale is from Tin Roof Brewing in Baton Rouge, LA.

[IMG] Poured into a 13 tulip glass canned on 4/13/22. Pours a hazy orange with a 2 finger sticky white head that leaves thin webs of lace, with excellent retention. 4.5

Aroma is mandarin, mango, cantaloupe, guava, and apricot. 4.5

Taste follows mandarin, cantaloupe, mango, guava, and apricot. 4.5

Mouthfeel is pretty big, soft gentle carbonation, not sticky or dry, and at 10.3% ABV it goes down really easy. 4.5

Overall this is really good. Definitive and Vitamin Sea brewed an excellent NETIPA. 4.5

Have a good nbw. Me and Julia are flying to Columbus today to pick up her car. Taking time off of traveling for a few weekends after last weekend with Greg and Tim. American airlines canceled our morning flight so we are at Charlotte now. I got to review 2 new beers in our layover.

Stonecloud Fluffy Fingers Turtle Candy Inspired Twice Stout, 14.5% ABV; 3.9 overall

Pours an effervescent mahogany with 2+ fingers of pillowy mocha colored head. Traces of head retention & lacing

S: Iron, & hints chocolate, caramel once warm; the major shortcoming on this offering. Just doesn't keep with the flavor delivered

T: Sweet caramel, pecans, some boozeyness, a touch of Cola, Chicory & dryness up front. Dark chocolate, caramel, pecan hull bitterness, roastyness, plus a little blueberry, dryness & leafy hops once warm. Finishes with sweet dark chocolate, caramel, roasty dryness, some cola flavor & a touch of pecan nuttyness/bitterness & just a touch of leafy hops

MF: Medium body, fairly firm carbonation, warming. The body gets chewier as this warms up

A Solid Imperial Stout doesn't really color in the lines of RIS guidelines, but plenty tasty & hides the ABV well

Well earlier I said I’d warm up with a big barleywine and here we are. This beautiful beer comes via @ovaltine through BIF #15. I usually call these beers Sunday Night Sippers but it’s so damn dreary and cold this was in order, so now it’s a Saturday Night Sipper.

    Revolution- Maple Jacket

Picture too dark; pours a leather like brown with beautiful frothy light brown ring as head. When swirled it creates a beautiful soft reemergence of head with little dots trying to cling. Backlit shows a beautiful red hue to it.

The nose is a rich bouquet of maple, fruit skin tannins, little bit of baking spice, some red apple and some oak showing as the barrel.

Alright as a maple (not just leafs ) lover this is nirvana, it’s like drinking syrup but not. I get all the delicious flavor of maple without the sticky dryness like when I douse my pancakes each weekend. Following that is rich dark fruit skins, a subtler spice than expected from the nose that finish with oak heavy bourbon. Just so perfectly balanced yet still so rich.

The mouthfeel is incredibly smooth; like you could chug this without noticing it’s 15%. It is not sweet despite the maple flavor; a beautiful warming sensation that builds without any nasal or stomach heat. A fruit skin like bitterness that just says hi.

What an amazing beer to sip on such a night. I couldn’t have picked a more perfect beer to open. I cannot wait to see what the other revolution barrel beers I have taste like. Thanks for sharing these with me Mike, such a treat.

@ChicagoJ I still have cuvée de grace, straight jacket, and ryeway left  considering you said some of those were your favorite I’m looking forward to them big time.

16oz can stamped FRESHEST BY 07/08/2022 16:11 220309-807 poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass at fridge temp 8.2% ABV. The beer pours mostly bright light amber in color with off white head. The head recedes to a fluffy ring and coats the glass in lacing. The aroma is mild with candied orange and caramel. The taste is semisweet caramel with big juicy tangerine, orange and grapefruit citrus. Medium bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation and a semi dry finish. No trace of the ABV. Overall, very, very good IIPA.

Good Saturday evening, New Beer Weekenders. It's been a rather cool, rainy, dreary Spring in the NYC metro area and this weekend has been a washout so far but it's a good reason to keep drinking stouts. Every March, Brix City Brewing releases its signature Silk City BBA Stout along with several variants (which vary each year). Tonight, I'm having this year's Peanut Butter Cup variant. Some peanut butter stouts are sweet and gimmicky but Brix did a fine job with this offering. While the peanut influence is undeniable, the Stout is actually quite bitter and the bourbon influence is a real positive.

It pours a deep mahogany with a full finger of creamy, light mocha-colored head and sheen of lacing. The smell is highly fragrant with fresh peanut butter, vanilla, caramel, and milk chocolate. The taste opens with caramel and peanut butter sweetness but quickly segues to bakers chocolate, burnt coffee grounds, and nutty char. It finishes with pronounced bitterness. The bourbon is noticeable but delicate and it compliments the other flavors without distraction. The mouth feel is on the thin side with appropriate carbonation, and it drinks big at 10% ABV. Overall, this Silk City variant makes very effective use of the peanuts. They're ever-present but don't overwhelm. Brix City displayed a deft touch with this Stout.

Thanks @Roguer for kicking things off today.
I have a couple, but only one photo as the other one was horrible.
The first one is Valkyrie from Enegren, which was sent to me by @Beersnake1 in NBW BIF #15.
Poured reddish amber and transparent into my basic pint glass. The yellow-beige head built quickly and dissipated almost as quickly, leaving regular lacing.
The aroma was faint, for me that’ll the norm, but I did get some dried fruit and biscuits.
The taste was surprisingly complex, far more flavors in there than your standard amber ale. Deeper malts and very well balanced hops keep things from getting too sweet.
The feel is ideal, this is easily crushed.
    Thanks Tim!

16oz can served in a large snifter. Canned 04/05/22, best by 07/04/22.

Pours a hazy light yellow with a fairly small head. Smell is somewhat tropical, lots of citrus pith, fairly resinous.

Taste is similar. Maybe a bit more grapefruit rind, maybe a bit more lemon.

Mouthfeel is light, dry, and clean. Overall, this is a nice beer that I could drink a lot of.

A - Sunflower gold color, clear and loaded with determined carbonation. The lasting snow white froth resides through the experience, and produces some quite sexy lacing.
S - Beautiful grainy nose, with refined cereal mash being the core, There is a kiss of grassy hops that bring with them a hint of lemongrass.
T - All that nose with more of the yeast as referee,.
M - Delightful, crisp, with a texture thats soft and rich.
O - An outstanding pilsner, in the Czech model as advertised. Words like refined, focused, fit this one well.
