Since last summer, I have been a semi regular at Red Beards in Anaheim. Now that it closed last Friday, I’m looking for a new place.

I used to be a regular at Hollingshead back in the early 2010s but the prices, hours , and let’s just say “culture” didn’t jive with me.

The various Whole Foods used to be solid but they haven’t seem to come back from the pandemic very well, especially staffing wise.

My local is Tustin Brew Co, but they almost only serve their own beer now with the occasional RR beer (e.g. Pliny).

What other places am I missing?

Mission Bar DTSA, Pickeld Monk DTF, Provisions at Orange Circle are all great craft beer bars

Ashamed I never been to Red Beards. Now that I have a Mickey Pass I was planning to stop in on one of my Disney visits. I’ve always seen Red Beards name pop up on RiiP’s Untappd page. Seemed like they had a pretty decent tap list. Didn’t realize how close to Angels, Ducks venues and the Grove. Are they permanently or temporarily closed? Any reason? Covid?

Native Son in DTSA was always fun when I lived off the circle. Spent most of my time at Provisions and Haven though back in the day.

Like the people above have said, Windsors is the way to go! Scott does an amazing job curating a list of superb beers from across the states and Europe. You can’t really go wrong with any of the beers you drink from tap. Try windsors!

Most people I know who go to Hollingshead rave about it, but the few times I've gone, I've found it was quite expensive for what you got food-wise (and I don't think its anything special to begin with).

    - Windsor is probably the best one although the draft selection is smaller, it's usually excellent.
    - Provisions in DT Orange is a nice spot to hang out but but I've found that their prices have increased to a point where I skip going there. (Once saw 17 bucks for an 8 oz pour of a Bottle Logic stout...yikes)
    - Native Son is cool with the rooftop bar, they usually have good-to-great stuff on tap. Can't speak to Mission which is down the street I believe.

In Mission Viejo there's O'Shea's Brewing Co. It's a homebrew shop with a bar upstairs and they pretty regularly have RR, NPBC, and several other great breweries on at any given time.

San Juan has The BrewHouse, I've only been once but it's got 30+ taps and it's always decent to good stuff whenever I check it online.

Recess in 4th st market Santa Ana. They usually have green cheek, Chapman, modern times including some classics like Firestone, ale smith and Russian river. Their cocktails are great too. It’s the sister bar of Detention (used to be playground).

I’ve been dying to check out the O’Shea taproom since it opened up, just haven’t been down that way in a while but finally have plans to check it out next weekend with some buddies. The taplist has been looking consistently solid.

have you tried Chapman Crafted, 1886 or Haven's, all in Orange? I'd like to know if they are worth the trip.

There are better beer options in the general area IMHO, but I really like the old brick building ambiance at 1886 myself. I heard the food is supposed to be pretty decent as well.

You should go - it’s a nice set up. And the bartender (he’s the only one I’ve seen working up there) came from Native Son Alehouse and he’s a really cool dude.

The ambiance at Chapman Crafted is Storage Wars style = don’t go when it’s hot because it’s not comfortable. The beer is definitely fine, but nothing is mind blowing. Haven can have a good tap list (same over as Chapman Crafted, so they always have too many of their beers on… food is over priced though and average at best). Haven’t been to 1886, but I’ve heard good things.

    1886?
I read or heard about this place somewhere. Probably here on BA. Checking out their menu. Food looks plentiful. A variety for sure. Beers are evened out. A little of each styles. They even have a RiiP collab on tap, a west coast lager. And when you scroll down to the end there’s 2 BrewX hard seltzers on tap as guest beers. Lunch and new beers.
As far as Chapman Crafted beers? Decent enough for consumption. I found from their beginning days they were overpriced. I think the IPA’s in the 4pks are just okay for the higher price. Again, I have more choices for my buck. And more to come.

$9 for a pint these days seems crazy. Looks to be the average for a pour of most anything.

On my drive earlier this morning I passed by both locations for Green Cheeks and Beachwood’s new soon to be spots. Looks like BW is tearing out the side walls and the front has a patio going in. GC is gutting out the inside. Work in progress.

Far down south o’sheas has a tap room, which has been mentioned.

Also, a new spot in Laguna Niguel called OC tap room. Nice place a nice list with like 40 beers.

I wonder how OC Tap Room came up with their name.
