Same. Seconded (or thirded or fourthed). Bleah.
Brewers: STOP USING THIS HOP IN CLEAR BEERS/HAZIES.

Now sabro in a stout? Maybe... just for the weird woody coconut thing, but enough already!

I’ve tried the beers with seaweed, heather, various herbs, etc. and never enjoyed any of them, so I'll put them in the worst category. Beers with hot peppers go into that category too, unless the heat from the peppers is just barely noticeable, then I'll tolerate it.

This is the first thing I think of with lemongrass.

@BigIronH -- I think the (nouveau/pseudo) "hippies" are shaving off the Asian culture just a little too liberally (no pun intended).

Kale has flavor? I thought it was just added bulk -- like iceberg lettuce.

Now that I think about it, kale is really sort of bitter and earthy... I'll stop there before anyone gets ideas... :grimacing:

I see that everyone has already jumped on this one, but I'll dog pile as a certified hippie living in one of the more notorious dens of hippiedom on earth and say that lemongrass isn't a hippie thing. Although, there is the breed of hippie that likes to go to SE Asia and then adopt all sorts of their cultural symbols like batik and those puffy pants and elephant figurines.

I could see lemongrass working in an ipa the same way that tea can work. It would take a deft touch for sure but it's not too far out of range.

for worst sounding that I actually see sometimes it's got to be pickle beer

I don’t mind Sabro-hopped beers, though I certainly don’t seek them out. For me, they’re a nice change of pace, but I can see them not having wide appeal.

I’m not the biggest fan of kettle sours, so if I see that on a can/bottle, I stroll on by.

Honorable mention goes to lactose. I’ll try those, but only if I have a high degree of trust in the brewery. I don’t want to feels like I’m sucking sugar through a straw from a bag of sugar.

That also applies to cucumber for me, and maybe to all vegetables in general (outside of peppers/chiles).

Miller Lite and their tag line of "Triple Hops Brewed" So do they actually use 3 hops for the vast amount brewed or do they have 3 hops fart in the vat's general direction?
Lite beer = no suitable water supply.

Yeah guess I am a Sabro fanboy when it is used properly. When done right with a pineapple producing hop it is a great beer. As for lemongrass, Sorachi Ace comes to mind (though a lot get the dill out of it) and it is a great hop to use in a Saison. Also the hops Hallertau Blanc, Cashmere and Aurora can throw lemongrass character. Lactose in an IPA I am not a fan of, but when used lightly in porters I have no issues with it. I just have never been onboard with any of the milkshake type IPA's. I did find the one that Odell released (which was quite dumbed down) Cloud Catcher to be nice, but it was a very mild example of the style

Worst sounding? Are we talking only about the beers names or the ingredients into them?

Anyhow if it’s the former. Two very well chosen names for French beers…

La Levrette, which is literally French for « Doggy Style ».

And Kekette, which is French for « willie » or « dong » hence a funny way to call the male parts. In this iteration the brewer even had the audacity to set the ABV at 6,9% and this time I don’t need to translate what 69 is.

To clarify; I’m hardly a prude and this doesn’t offend me one little bit. I guess that’s part of marketing and for the record both breweries and beers are good.

An extra-strong (but dry tasting) hazy Double IPA brewed with and dry hopped at least 3 times with nothing but summit hops.

Anything that that describes itself as having "characteristics of port" without actually being aged in port barrels would be a close second.
