Recently found 20oz Zombie Dust cans at my local Krogers. They were only 13 days old. 20oz cans is a terrible idea for IPAs btw.

I saw on their Instagram stories that they got a new tank. Must be doing well to justify expansion on an already somewhat large operation and footprint.

They are something like the 26th largest US craft brewery by sales volume and they are in only 19 states. They can double in size and still not meet demand if they expanded into the remaining states.

And all I really want is a brewpub.

Good thing it is not an IPA then! I love the format and dearly miss my FFF DIPA bombers...

    This.

I always looked forward to my visits, a few hours at the brewpub and 2+ cases to go. I drink a lot less 3 Floyds these days as a result, but understand their distribution expansion is their focus at this point.

I saw on facebook that the brewery is re-starting brewery tours. I wonder if that's an indication that beer sales are slow at the kiosk and they need some foot traffic to get things going again. I have no reason to go there since I can get some of their beers at my store now, so maybe that's true for other fans too. Have they written their own in-house sales obituary by increasing the quantity of beers into distribution?

The expansion has been almost entirely into a new building that has a canning line.

I suspect they are using this as a test to see
what sort of traffic they are going to generate. The overhead is basically paying a tour guy for one Saturday every other week vs restarting the whole bar and hoping for the best. If this is popular and people are flocking to FFF then it is probably a good indicator that they can re-open the distillery bar featuring FFF beers on tap, if no interest it probably isn’t the best time to prepare for a reopening.

I can't speak to your comment about slow sales at the kiosk, and I do agree that there hasn't been a reason to go to the kiosk if you can get their beers off the shelf at your local store.

But, I was at the 3 Floyds tap takeover at Whole Foods last Friday, and they had three beers on tap that were brewed in their new(ish) pilot brewing system: Operation: Box Breakdown, a coconut porter, Twin Cobra, a DIPA, and Rogue Wedding, a Belgian dubbel. (I had a pour of the Twin Cobra, and it was what you expect a 3 Floyds DIPA to be.)

Anyway, Phil, yes that Phil, told me that they are now pouring growlers of the pilot system beers in the kiosk. He also told me that their brewers have been challenged to come up with new and unique brews, which sounds good to me. That was always the best part of the brewpub, when they had a one-off on tap that wasn't going into distro.

Sidebar: They had Crack the Skye (2017 barrel) and Alpha Kong (2020) on tap, along with a 2019 and 2020 Behemoth. The Crack the Skye held up phenomenally well, and the Alpha Kong was on point as well.

Ok, now hold on a second. Time for Brass tax. I gotta know. Are you trying to tell me that the bottles were from a barrel in 2017, the wax from a 2017 barrel, the keg was stored in a 2017 barrel, or the coffee beans were aged in a 2017 barrel?!

This thread can’t continue until this gets resolved. We’ll call this BA major case file #2017.

In fact, it is a great metal album with the liner notes aged in bourbon barrel for 6 months. The music itself was not barrel aged.
