The Double Bourbon Generational hype is completely justified. Goddamn.

I also regret everything negative I said about 375s. This goes down too damn easy.

 

Which is why it should be in a 750 mL!

My experience with DB Gen…"Pros: 375 ml. Easy bottle to take down…and wouldn’t leave me leg less. Cons: 375 ml. I wanted so much more. A hard glass to put down after each sip.”

Great for a solo, but also want more. So 750s should always be the answer. Perfect for a long solo.

 

Yeah, I should rephrase--on-site 375s are perfect. To-gos should be 750s.

Some guy came into the Cellar with his wife and kid and was enthusiastically asking his wife if she wanted to try “the new stout”. “Which one?”, she asks. I turn around to display my bottle as he simultaneously says “the barrel-aged one”, then quietly says to me with a laugh, “I already solo’d one earlier!”. Love it.

 

This guy is living in 2048 while the rest of us slop it up in 2022. Brings wife & kid to Side Project for casual Friday date night under pretense to hang out. Underplays the fact that there is a super limited DB onsite only release. Then probably convinces wife to split a second bottle of DB generational while getting credit for being a good husband and dad. Really brilliant!

I think the DB bourbon is as good, if not better than DB cognac. Both are miles ahead of regular Generational. To me both seemed thicker and smoother than regular Generational. Even thicker than BBT if you ask me. The barrel for DB bourbon was really dialed in, started a bit boozy, but really integrated well as it warmed. This kind of BA stout represents the pinnacle of the craft. I would put DB bourbon generational up there with DB congac and DB derivation stagg jr as my favorite non-adjunct stouts in the past year or two. Maybe my favorite since BBT 2019.

Now let's get some BIL....
