Had a central waters black gold the other day. Was impressed by just being a solid ba stout. A classic.

I’m not sure if this qualifies as an Imperial Stout, but Burial released their Skillet Stout this week! One of my favorites!

I was gonna name it Stout Appreciation but IMPERIAL Stout sounds soo much cooler. Also, if Old Raspy qualifies as an Imperial Stout at 9% ...any stout over that ABV% qualifies

I think Burial’s Skillet Donut Stout only clocks in at 8%.

In my opinion, if you are only going by ABV, then 7% and higher could be included as "imperial"... even though I've seen lower... and even though 7 might seem low to people accustomed to double digit stouts and the daily drinking of American IPAs.

I had OOA and liked it alot but I recently had BBA Oro Negro and it was awesome. Probably my favorite chili beer to date. I know you’re not into they kind of thing but the spiciness complimented the beer well.

Santa Fe imperial Java stout is fantastic as is dark star. Had both the last couple nights and could easily drink my weight in both.

The only WWS i have had is a 2017 Vanilla WWS early this year and it was fuckin great. Vanilla was barely noticeable and the base was 100

    [IMG] Ticking a want here.

Its no secret I’m obsessed with Arvon and their sours and IPA’s. This is the first stout of theirs I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying.

pours a ruby hued, oily black with a finger of cola suds. The head quickly reduces to a thin ring. Nose is marshmallow, almonds and bakers chocolate. Taste follows suit with a bit of bitterness in the finish. Overall, I’ll rate this slightly above average but it may not be the heavy hitter I was hoping for. Cheers.

Sounds like that beer was a rocky road

    So like a 2.7 out of 5?

Average is 3. I think I’m going 3.5. All the flavors were there, just not as pronounced as I hoped and I could have done without the bitterness.

My real problem is that about 3 weeks ago I had Rocky Road stout from Untitled Art and it blew me away. Was literally like drinking melted Rocky Road iced cream. I was hoping for something similar/better from Arvon, but they didn’t necessarily produce.

I did not see a thread for "Imperial Stout lack of appreciation" thread, so I'll post it here. Imperial stouts are my favorite and this was a disaster, IMHO.

The pour was gorgeous, thick, black and slow, great big fluffy light brown head that lasted all of a minute or two. Great aromas brought back memories of backyard campouts 60 years ago, marshmallows, graham crackers, Hershey's chocolate. Ya know what, the beer tastes exactly like it smells. It's sickly sweet. If this beer hadn't been a gift, it would have been a drain pour. Mouthfeel, fine, smooth, creamy and not a bubble of carbonation after the original flurry of activity. As much as I love Imperial Stouts, I hated this one.
    .......enjoy what's in yer glass.....cuz I didn't......

The last straight jacket I had struck me as vegetal, but NOT in the green pepper way. Infection never crossed my mind, I figured it was how my chaos theory of a palate decided to perceive that beer’s navigating of the fig-fudge spectrum. Will have to have a go at another one from the pack and see if the experience is the same.

Same. Had this on draft a few months ago and was way way too saccharin-level sweet for me.
