I'm gonna find out which taprooms @Resistance88 frequents and pay someone a lot of $$$ to pour him some pastry stouts on "accident". Why? Seems funny.

Also surprised by how many people would just accept getting an incorrect order. Having said that, I recently was at a place that had two session IPAs on tap and I ordered one of them and only found out I got the other after having halfway finished it. I didn't mind because it was the same style and tasted great, but if I had gotten a totally wrong beer and noticed immediately, I would definitely ask for the one I ordered.

If I dont like the one I’m given, it’s going back. But I like enough beers that I’ll usually just stick with it, politely point it out when I’m ordering the next one and usually it’s free.

Really depends...if it was a beer I came in specifically for and the one they brought was some nasty fruited lactose IPA I'd ask for the original beer. If the beer they brought was something I'd drink I'd drink it and order the original one after that.

I'd drink it while inquiring as to what they think they are trying to peddle that's not moving

I typically accept the wrong beer and build up an intense resentment of the world and everything on it. Works for me.

If the beer tastes good I’d drink it if it’s a style and flavor you want at that given time, but I’d let the staff know it’s not the beer you order, you really like this beer and ask what beer it is. Then at least you now have the name of another beer you like (or maybe it’s a beer youve had before and liked before so if price is the same, I’d just drink it. Not on the same level as the beer you ordered I’d send it back.

You must consider whether the wrong beer was tapped (and mis-labeled), or the wrong beer was poured. If the former, a re-pour won't help. If the latter, it will. The latter is more likely, but still...

One local taproom requires the beertenders and wait-staff to try all new taps, so they learn about them. This reduces errors, unless they sample a whole bunch at once.

Has happened a few times at a spot pre pandemic. It was semi busy with poor staff. Have ordered a beer and it arrives but it’s not what I ordered. I always ask if it’s the correct beer and get it on the house. It’s never even close to style.

    Enjoy

Drank what was supposed to be Breckenridge 471 Small Batch IPA. I told the server that it was not the right beer. He insisted that it was. Called a manager to come over and reassure me that it was. He took me to the cooler to look at the keg tag. Yeah, it said it was the right beer. I told him that he paid for the IPA but got something cheaper...

I forgot to say also that she did pour the right beer after we pointed out we received the wrong thing. We all just kind of laughed it off.

After a company holiday party and some bar hopping, my buddies and I wound up at some faux-dive bar around midnight. I ordered the lowest ABV beer they had and got a 9% DIPA. I said I couldn’t drink it because it had too much alcohol.
Bartender: “Hold on, it’s stronger than what you ordered? Then what the f*ck are you complaining about?”
Then he just started walking away, took a few steps and turned around to say “F*cking lightweight!”
I swear, that guy must’ve cleared a couple hundred in tips just from my friends. It was pretty damn funny. I drank the beer…and a couple more pints of it. Can’t remember what bar it was. It was one of those kinds of nights.

I guess that's the kind of pissy attitude you would expect from staff at a faux-dive bar (or real dive bar for that matter).

    Does this happen often?

I can’t remember a time that this has happened to me. I would probably just drink it, unless it was a kettle sour / smoothie / lactose / oat milk ipa

I will most often send it back.

As these are the days of haze, pastry, and Idon'tknowwhatthefuckyouwerethinkingsour, there's generally a small percentage of beers I would want to drink at said taproom anyway, so if the mispour doesn't fall into my growing smaller everyday range of acceptability, I'm sorry, I asked for the *insert the better beer I ordered that you didn't give me* and this isn't it, please, and thank you.

Also, get off my lawn (and the lawns that touch my lawn).
