    Baseball themed beer day…

I’m with you on that the smell of that salty air is something welcoming and I know the exact store you’re talking about.

I’m hoping we get down once or twice this year for the kiddos and I’ll make a quick trip to slack tide which I’ve been wanting to visits

This beer was brewed and packaged by BlackStack Brewing in Minnesota. Where beer and sports teams are much better one state east.

Bummer, maybe that one wasn't aging as well. I had it in late fall/early winter and it was like you mentioned on the nose, but the flavor followed more closely.

@JackHorzempa I have been buying juicy bits for a long time and think it's their best offering. The rest of their ipas and juicy bits variants all taste the same to be. As a result I stick with juicy bits and some variants like DDH Citra JB or nelson.

3 Floyds Brewing Rites of Ramm low-ABV IPA. Beautiful golden west coast clear copper color, with a light foam that does not survive the initial battle for more than a few seconds. The smell gently whispers 3 Floyds IPA. Clean lemony fruit cake. The taste is also distinctly 3 Floyds. Bready light mango lemon. 5% ABV, but the flavor is strong. The younger cousin of Zombie Dust. Very refreshing. The mouthfeel is once again the trademark of 3 Floyds. Crisp, easy, full, and rich. There is a consistency between this beer, their every day drinking pale ales, their IPAs, and their most bitter IIPAs that make them very drinkable. Overall, this beer is a triumph. The ideal session IPA!

Thanks for starting things up, @Shanex.

@GreenBayBA ... hard to argue about the sports teams on the whole, but BEER? :astonished::angry::wink:

But, anyhow, today I'm about as far east as you can go and still be in the USA.

    Maine Peeper Pale Ale
    ABV: 5.5%
    IBU: 47

Crystal clear golden yellow body with moderate carbonation. Tall stark-white fluffy head from a vigorous pour. Good retention, forming a lumpy and rocky surface as it recedes. Thick buttresses of lacing as it recedes.

Citrus aroma, somewhat sharp and grapefruit-like with lemon underneath. Lightly bready. Not too strong.

Mild citrus taste rather than the grapefruit sharpness in the aroma. Lemon and orange. The initial taste is, as I said, mild with no bitterness. A slight bitterness begins in the middle and carries through to the finish. The finish is dry and the aftertaste leaves the slightly bitter lemony citrus lingering. As I continue to drink, the bitterness in the aftertaste does tend to build a bit.

The mouth feel is moderately thin on the body with slight carbonation.

Overall, a very nice pale ale. Well done and refreshing to drink. My personal preference, though, would have a bit more bittering from the hops and a stronger flavor. So, while good, this would not make my top 10 list of pale ales.

The box with the Orca glass? No, I didn't. The Fielder's Choice was in the bax I got last weekend. (I won't complain if there is another can of it - there's baseball on almost every night!)

Wandered over to Great Heights Brewing. Had a new West Coast IPA.

Donny, Who Loved Bowling. 7.5% ABV, close to DIPA territory.

I'm usually not one to like references, just for the sake of them with beer names, and references from The Big Lebowski are nothing new. But hey, its still fun, even for a want to be old curmudgeon like me

Pours a clear golden/orange color. A two finger white head forms with good retention and lace left behind.
The nose is simple, but very aromatic. Citrus, pine, melon. A bit resin like. Simple and very enjoyable.
Taste wise...hoppy and citrus, with pine, resin, light melon fruity flavors again. This is a touch sweet, with a touch of woody flavors. Which I get from time to time with some IPA's, and specifically from Great Heights. Lingering bitterness. Very nice.
A medium body that is a bit resin like. Though crisp, clean and finishes dry at the same time. Which all makes this really easy to drink, especially considering it is knocking on the door of a DIPA.

Like most Great Heights IPA's, this is solid and well made. I always seem to get a hoppy woody character from them, but that is far from a bad thing, just an interesting and unique character I can pick out from them. I'll take it.

Overall score, is 4's all around. Easy B+, bordering on an A-

I'm enjoying this one from our very own @Coronaeus

Witch shark from Bellwoods Brewery, Ontario, Canada.

Thanks to Peter for sending this surprise in NBS BIF #15.

16 oz can poured in a Drowned Lands Becher glass.
Not the prettiest girl at the dance, but she has a nice head. Very turbid, almost appears like a high-fiber drink. Decent head retention and subtle lacing.
Nose pops with grapefruit, lemon zest, pineapple, mango, herbal pepper, grass, and hints of pine. Grain notes hint at fresh, wet bread dough.
Flavor follows nose with a punch. This is no shrinking violet. She is hear to dance, and not to the slow numbers. Fairly aggressive in her grapefruit, mango, pineapple, spicy grass, berry, and pine that shows a little more resin. The grain comes off more crackery now. But all of this moves around in a "zippy" way."
Which takes us to mouthfeel. Very active carb, medium+ on feel, and more tropical notes on the finish. Slightly bitter with a hint of alcohol warmth.
Overall, this is an assertive one. Good, but for me it's not one to sit down and have 2 or 3 in a sitting.

Waiting for the UCL final to start ... what a cluster.

Next up is Boundary Bay - Otter Space a hazy IPA.

Pours a hazy or cloudy orange color, but not quite completely opaque. Huge, billowy white head forms on the beer before slowly dissipating leaving just a thin layer of foam on the beer. Aroma has notes of fruity, somewhat green hops notes with an earthy, almost nutty malt character coming through.

Taste follows the nose with notes of fruit, overly ripe citrus, the malt definitely has that nuttiness and is more prominent in the profile than it was on the nose. The nuttiness gives off this like almond butter or peanut butter like character. Its honestly, kind of an odd mix. Feel is light, smooth, easy drinking. Moderate bitterness on the back end.

Overall a unique IPA - not my favorite.

Have a few big stouts that I hope to review while rewatching Stranger Things; me and the wife don’t have much to do this weekend so we started from the beginning on Thursday and are finishing season 2 right now. Starting this 3 Sheeps The Wolf - Coffee & Maple Syrup, I always enjoy The Wolf and this one is really good, most subtle barrel I’ve had from them.

22 oz bottle, 2021, poured into a tulip

A- Black with a two finger tan head.

S- Coffee, chocolate, roasted malts, some maple syrup, touch of bourbon.

T- Coffee, maple syrup, roasted malts, some chocolate, hints of bourbon.

M- Smooth, medium to full body.

O- Bourbon isn’t nearly as strong as other versions of The Wolf I’ve had so far and that really lets the coffee and maple syrup shine

    An "oat whip"IPA.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend everyone! I’m over the in laws enjoying this beer while my sister in law watches our kids. It’s shaping up to be a beautiful weekend, humidity feels like it has pulled out. BBQ at my brothers tomorrow.

A very fitting beer for this weekend, a pre prohibition style lager brewed in NJ, with a Bruce themed name. I read the description of this beer and knew I wanted to try it.

    Source - Glory Days

This beer starts off great, beautiful crystal clear incredibly pale in color. Visible carbonation bubbles as it pours, reminds me of those close up commercial shots. Head leaves some lacing and a thin layer of white sticks around.

Nose is a touch sweet, doughy, grainy, with a hint of refreshing citrus.

The taste follows suit with a noticeable but controlled corn like sweetness, good old fashioned white bread. The grain note pops out in the finish, the citrus is still there but in the form of a kiss on the end as a refreshing finish.

Light body, great creamy mouth coating carbonation, a little hoppiness in the finish; semi dry finish and very clean.

This is a really well balanced cool beer, it’s definitely adjunct lager like but there is much more subtle flavors present that are not in your normal AAL. Really glad I tried this one….

One of you will get to try this beer soon too if all goes as planned, next week…
