Happy Thursday from the land downunder, where winter has us in its icy grip. When I say icy, I mean 10C or about 50f, which some of you will think is comical to call cold. But we don't get a lot colder so, to me, this is bloody cold!

I'm warming up with a homebrewed Munich Dunkel, and it's pretty damn good if I do say so myself.

    Cheers!

Well this French village Internet bandwidth can't even cope with postimages so...
Cambre d'Aze dubbel from a small brewery in St Pierre dels Forcats here in Roussillon in Southern France. 7.5% about, brewed in early April and its actually true to style. Proper.
Been good to get away for a bit and take an internet break even if I miss the BA shit talking.
Still off the weird tweaking ankle for now. Day 5 with no running and still haven't murdered anyone so that's good I guess. But it's a setback and I hope I don't struggle too much with this.

Cheers all - be well and be... sorta behaved?:wink::wink:

Good day all, currently drinking Maredsous Tripel. Excellent beer but 10% ABV so I know I’m just gonna sit down and enjoy it for a while before going on with the rest of my day. Lunch time here.

Back again and now with photo. Took a bit.
Cap d'Ona Brune. A brown rye ale. Brewed 3 weeks ago and it's a darn fine beer. Huh. Nice rye grain notes and some rich malt depth. Clean, balanced, and well executed.
    )happens to be organic).

    Cheers et tchin-tchin!

Greetings from "upover" @AzfromOz . Thanks for kicking it off. You are right. 50*F is quite balmy in a northern NY winter. The coldest day was -20*F / -28.8*C. Ice fishing temps!

I've always admired your ability to hold both bottle and glass in one hand without dropping them. I couldn't pull that off.

    Good afternoon gentlemen,
always a pleasure to have some time to enter here.
Today Republic Day, I'm waiting for it to be a little cooler outside to go for a drink.
In the meantime, here is an Italian reinterpretation (100% artisanal and with local raw materials) of a classic Belgian.

Birrificio Amerino (Umbria, ITA) - MUNDIAL - Tripel (with honey)

    33 cl bottle (€ 5).
On the label "Best before: 06/2023".
Tripel-style Italian craft beer, with honey.
Just uncorked immediately malty notes (biscuit, honey, light caramel).
Versata is very elegant: deep blond and compact foam to act as a hat.
In the mouth, one feels that it is a "sui generis" interpretation compared to a classic Belgian Tripel (taking Tripel as a term of comparison such as those of St. Bernardus, Corsedonk, Westmalle, etc... which also differ from each other, but without detaching from the centuries-old tradition).
The body is full and "honeyed", although not excessively dense.
In this interpretation from the gustatory point of view, the contribution of honey dominating the first impact is felt very much, and then leaves room for a succession of spices (cloves, perhaps a hint of anise) with a very balanced result.
Toasted note that remotely reminds me of a crème brûlée.
Definitely, much more characterized by a taste of honey, rather than by hints attributable to caramel / glucose.
Biscuit finish, with slightly toasted notes that try to "dry out" the general sweetness.
In general, a pleasant and well-made beer ... a pleasant reinterpretation of a timeless classic.

    Morning...
Enjoying a good one from the can as we plan today's adventures with our visiting Grandson.

Yesterday we went hiking in the Black Hills and saw some very young whitetail fawns.

The first fawn we heard loudly bleating. Really loud. We watched from about ten feet until the doe showed and we then continued our hike.

Farther in on our hike we spotted movement right next to the trail. Twins quickly plopped down and didn't move as we walked within three feet of them.

Hard to see even when you know they are there.
    It was a good day.
    Cheers
