Good morning advocates! Took the day off for a little mental health and to get some errands done. Starting off with a beverage and the last episode of season 2 of The Boys.

Good morning all, just have opened Chouffe Blonde after yet another (almost) full day visiting stuffs. Unlike yesterday it was quite rainy this am so we had to shorten a bit our stay in the town of Quimperlé but the sky is finally clearing as I write this. We are a few hundreds of meters from the beach and we can walk there. Nothing like the playa after a Belgian blonde. :grinning:

    This is Quimperlé:

3 Monts. From the French part of Flanders.

Last one from my stash. @Shanex I will quit stalking you with tis beer, for the time being  Saw it in a Belgian supermarket too this weekend (bombers). Already had two six packs of West Vleteren #12 on me. Gave away 4 from the Stella six pack. I never could have imagined bringing Stella Artois home from Belgium by the way.
    Cheers all

This is about 1/12 of the beers available in a not oversized supermarket in Belgium (Ieper).

You can stalk me as much as you want dude.

    Especially when talking beer.

Btw it’s been several years since I’ve been to Belgium (De panne in Flanders) and was certainly impressed with the Belgian beer selection but not as much with anything else. Has this changed a bit since?

    Cheers!

Warsteiner. With a simple meal of canned Frankfurters sausages. But there is sauerkraut too.
Awesome and cheap vegetable by the way. I believe I saved a lot of my student buddies (and myself) from scurvy by serving sauerkraut now and then. But that was ages ago. Sauerkraut pairs very well with beer too.
    Cheers

Just got back from the voting polls. And it was a bit nerve wracking. This really calmed down the nerves.

Russian River Brewing “Pliny The Elder,” DIPA. Also loving my glass.

Good to know! I keep you posted then.

It is indeed still mostly Belgian beer what you see in the shops and supermarkets. But it is a big lot of beer in most places. Traditional breweries are coming up with more different beers now I believe.
Difficult market for so called 'craft beer'. Imagine a hipster IPA can priced at 9,95 where you can get a six-pack of Orval for the same price (or less). Best before date can be an issue maybe. IPA's turn bad soon. Most classic Belgians last a very long time (can be in the shop too).

Haven't find a convenient retailer near the South Shore line, but will keep looking. Hope to hit the source within the next year.

    Good evening to all Advocates,
I am drinking a beer I have never tasted before which is driving me crazy, although this is not quite the style the brewery is known for...

Bibibir (Abruzzo, ITA) - PACIFIC IPA - India Pale Ale (6,2%)

33 cl can (5 €) - On the label: "To be consumed preferably by the end of: 08/2022".
Freshly uncorked tropical scents, which expand once poured: passion fruit, mango, melon.
When poured it is a deep blond, slightly hazy / not completely transparent.
Medium foam, but very light in consistency.
In the mouth there is a fragrant taste of tropical and summer fruit salad: especially melon and passion fruit, in the background aromas reminiscent of pineapple and yellow peach.
The drink is easy but very tasty with a finish that leaves the stage to fruity notes both on the tongue and on the palate, without there being a significant bittering contribution.
Beer that I drink for the first time but that, as for the TUKA (NEIPA, but that I would call JUICY IPA) by Birra dell'Eremo in 2020, I have already understood that it will be one of my "safe" choices for this summer's drinking.
It lacks a bit of bitterness to make the drink even more gratifying for my tastes, but overall it really satisfied me, especially for the intensity of the flavors (evidently it is very fresh), although this is not a "typical" style of Bibibir, which is especially strong on Belgian school styles (blanche, tripel, quadrupel, etc.).
    Very good !
I think many of you would like it too!
