I’d drink at least half of it and then tell the bartender it’s the wrong beer. Then have the right beer brought to me. I’ve done that a few times over the years. They’re just going to dump it anyway.

I do the same when they bring me the chicken burrito instead of the steak. Free leftovers. Gotta be frugal with this 5 dollar a gallon gas.

Been there, done that. It CAN be overwhelming if you aren't careful. As you were...

I don't get out much, but I remember ordering a sour. Didn't taste quite what I was expecting but still quite good. I finally made the connection halfway through, I was drinking the barrel aged cider. Just let it go...

Depends, I suppose. Lots of variables. Is good? Was I there specifically to try the beer I ordered?

The constant: some vanilla strawberry lactose slushy IPA? That'll go back.

Honestly most people aren't that way, breweries seem to have a sense of community and they tend to bring whatever their personal favorite is. It's a great conversation starter, especially if it's a cute bartender.

    Uh . . . Not if it is a seltzer like someone mentioned . . . of
For me, it depends on what I wind up with and the cost. If I just spent $8 on a stout and I get an AAL, I am not going to be happy and certainly will say something . . . politely.

I'll add to the "unknown beer" tangent. MacTrail and I were looking at unlikely drinking places on Chicago Av. near Western in Chicago in about 1976. We entered an "Economy Liquor Store" (providing package sales as well as a by-the-drink bar amid the no-ambiance decor). There were 2 bartenders (one speaking Spanish, the other Polish) and tap handles that had no indication of beer or brewery. We ordered draft and, while we asked, got no clue of the beer provided. They didn't answer questions in English, but just shrugged. Our guess was that it might have been Heileman's cheapest (Drewry's?) but it might just have well have been Walters OldTimers, RedWhite&Blue, . . . ).

It depends on a couple of things:

    1. Is it a regular hang-out?
If so, I probably know the bartender and staff (and tip well), so it’s not a problem to get it right on the second try. And… the wrong pour is on them.

    2. Not a regular hang-out.
It happens from time to time, and I am usually more amused by it than annoyed. Life really IS short. Shrug it off and count your blessings. But I’ll probably just chalk it up to experience and order a can of PBR before I split.

How can you screw up scan of PBR?

At a bar/taproom, I don't think I've had this happen, at least that I recall. Now, in a liquor store, I've had 2 instances where I meant to grab one beer but accidentally grabbed one that was next to it and looked similar (different variant) and didn't realize until I got home. That's my stupidity, but if I was out somewhere and it happened, I would make the bartender/server aware but be kind about it because I know it can be easy to make a mistake in an environment like that
