Goes well with Banana Nut Bread.

Howdy all - good to be back more regularly and more "connected" to this thread again.

Great trip, did some solid hiking even with the ankle ****le/impingement. Seeing my PT today, going to go out and test this bad boy first to see if I can approximate what happened.

But the walks/hikes with the wife in the Pyrenees and foothills were just awesome and good to see the parents, too. I'll post a few pics this week if everything behaves.

Today's New Breakfast Beer is one from the discount shelf at my local distributor:



Last one of the Anchor christmas ales I consumed was the 2014 and it was excellent! This one not so much but for the price point it was pretty good. Rating 3.97, rDev +1.3%.

Drinking Sierra Nevada Powder Day IPA.

 

Good morning/afternoon/evening BAs! The walk this morning with the dogs was a steamy 86° 80% humidity feels like 93°… usual chores done, it’s coffee time - 903 Brewers’ Chupa Cabra, Batch 5, imperial oak aged stout with coffee, chocolate, marshmallows and cayenne peppers:



No canning date. A recent Tavour purchase. At 57° Pours opaque brown; fast fizzy dark tan head vanished before I could take the pic; no cap retention, ring nor lace; medium legs. Nose is sweet marshmallow whip; no coffee. Cayenne peppers on entry followed by sweet chocolate malt; sweet marshmallow middle; no coffee detected. Light body, dry oaky feel; peppers burn on tip of tongue; heat in mouth more from peppers than 12.6% abv; light carbonation. Overall this batch (5) bears little resemblance to other batch reviews I’ve read; it’s too sweet, has too much marshmallow and is too thin for abv; the spicy cayenne unbalanced the whole; a supremely C- imperial coffee stout that had no coffee.

Sadly, one of the lowest scores I’ve given in quite some time…I initially reviewed this beer a few weeks ago, and today dropped my ratings a little…

Moving on, drinking inside this morning - Revolution’s “Straight Jacket” BBA Barleywine Ale:



Canned 11/4/21. Poured at 57°. Sweet caramel nose and taste. Boozy from 15.8%. Just what I wanted to change up my palate from my first beer. This BBA BW-style is spot on, imo. Revolution has it going on…

On laundry duty, washing and putting clothes away, and office cleaning…mundane, but I’m indoors and drinking well…Cheers y’all!

 

Brewdog Hellcat American India Pale Lager.



Hits the spot after running the lawnmower on my soggy lawn.

 

Nine holes of golf in where I had almost as many putts as other shots, which would be great if I were hitting greens and shooting near par, which I decidedly did not.

Had to make room in the fridge for new beer, so I went with this Fort George hazy…
