Drinking Goose Island Secret Beer Hug.

 

Good morning BAs! The usual morning chores done…it’s coffee time - Bottle Logic’s “The Fourth Wall” an imperial stout with lactose, coconut, cocoa nibs and almonds:



No canning date. A recent Tavour purchase. Poured at 54°. Fast fizzy tan head; poor cap retention; thin ring and a few spots of lace at best; no legs; black body with ruby edges. Sweet milk chocolate nose; some almond as the beer warmed. Sweet lactose followed by cocoa upon entry; no coconut; toasted brown bread middle; a little almond in the finish. Silky smooth feel, medium light body, moderate minus carbonation; no warmth from 10% abv. Overall this beer is thin for abv and way too sweet; and there’s no coconut. Disappointing.

Without the help we received from France, we would probably still be part of the UK - two previous relatives of mine have been named after Lafayette, linking with our(part) French heritage. Another rainy day here on the tundra of NW PA - fortunately it's Laundry Day so I'd be inside most of the day anyway. Today's New Breakfast Beer (actually, NBB Review since I've guzzled several of these without reviewing them):



Decent impy stout - well made for mass distribution. Is it worth $ 1.42/oz? Not IMHO - it's just beer. Over-rated and over-priced, rating 4.1, rDev - 4,4%.

Yes, I stopped buying most variants, be it from Goose Island, Revolution, or others. The base beers are trypically better, at a far greater value.

Speaking of which, a nice an easy start to the day clocking in at 5.8% and $1.25 a can plus Chicago, Crook County and Illinois taxes which add 13.14% more to the tab.

Happy Thursday BA's.....weird cool damp weather here this morning - Emma and I did our early morning hike and got sprinked on a little; sun keeps trying to peek through and it is forecasted to be sunny and 70 later (64 and chilly now!)

Going to be a warm one today with high humidity predicted. Having an Old Speckled Hen.

Damn tasty IPA I'm a fan of this 1, I'm a Nelson and Rakau fiend, Strata really tops it off to. It's odd lately iv preferred letting my IPAs warm up a bit. Cheers y'all!
