I really dig West Side Brewing in Cincy and this Pilsner is just fantabulous! On a different note, I'm tired of disassembling part of my electric guitar rig to rob some pedals to use for a once/mo acoustic gig at a local church. So - bit the $ bullet and the new toy arrived today so giving myself a quick crash course before hauling it to practice tonight. (!!!)

Going with a sour from Tripping Animals. I normally like these, but this one tastes like a mediocre DDH Kettle Sour with pineapple. Instead of drain-pouring it or suffering through it, I ended up sprinkling a little bit of organic sugar. Which made it much better.


Somebody on Untappd referred to this as a Cyser.

Tonight's Blind Battle Beer Tasting Lineup:

1) Brauerei Früh Kolsch (4.8%): An authentic Kolsch from Germany with flavors of pale German malts, bread and Kolsch yeast. A full mouthfeel and dry finish.
versus
2) Utepils Skölsch! (4.9%): A Kolsch-style beer from Minnesota with flavors of citrus, pear, vinous notes with a bready and Kolsch yeast on the finish. Very drinkable

3) BlackStack Local 755 (6.8%): A NEIPA from Minnesota with flavors of earthy mango, resinous and some dank and herbal notes. A predominate sweet and earthy mango flavor.
versus
3) Disgruntled Galaxy Class Hop Cruiser (7.2%): A NEIPA from Minnesota brewed with Galaxy hops for flavors of orange, pineapple, papaya, melon, berries. Complex & balanced.
(mismatched these two blind, no canning date on either one)

Winners:

2) Utepils Skölsch: This one has a more fruity and floral flavors. Still has the German Kolsch bready yeast flavor, but also more apparent fruity flavors. Not as authentically from Germany, but I definitely preferred this one. Skölsch!

4) Disgruntled Galaxy Class Hop Cruiser: This one is all-around good NEIPA. One flavor does not stand out, but all are there. Some great tropical haze. My first and last from this brewery ...Unfortunately, this brewery has closed down in May, so this will be tribute.
