Well, I don't think that arabic numerals or decimals were around back when the passage was written. 6.66 is way different from 666 anyway. Pretty vague to me. 666 is nothing but a number, no more signifcant than 13. What to make of the old Sick's brewery brand Brew 66? They were getting dangerously close.

I wasn't addressing 6.66, Duvel, or any other brewer. I was addressing those who seemed confused as to the origin of the association of 666 with Satan.

When you accidentally drink another beer that has 6.5% on the label but it’s actually 6.66% ABV, and after years of avoiding Duvel 6.66 you now get dragged straight to the fires of hell itself… feels bad man

    If there’s a numeric combination I’m conce
This tracks. 616 was once the area code for a good portion of Michigan, including where I grew up.

Really, though, maybe we should be talking less about the mark of the beast and more about the mark of the yeast. (Groan! I had to go there!)

Duvel is one helluva beer. I love it. It's great for openers at a party just like sparkling wine.

When my (now) wife and I went through Belgian customs, the officers checking our passports mentioned the translation and to be careful after I had mentioned being stoked about trying the beer while we were there. I’ll never forget how humorous it was to them as they were explaining it.

 Little did they know that my tolerance is through the roof at sea level

Saw it yesterday for $14.99, I’ll probably grab a four pack this weekend just for it’s namesake. Love Duvel so I think I should give it a go based off my love of the OG.

Actually, when I saw the 6.66 number I didn't think a damn thing about it.

This sounds great, I'll definitely get some if I find it.

I will just say that everyone can choose to not buy beer (or anything) for whatever reason they would like. It may seem silly to some, but I have no issues with someone choosing not to buy this beer because of the 6.66% thing.

If I recall correctly, a whole bunch of other beers have had their abvs specifically labeled as "6.66%".

Just so I understand the problem some members are having with the name of this beer... Would I be correct in assuming you also would refuse to drink Lucifer, Satan and Duvel beers as well?

If the answer is that you would have no problem drinking any of those other "devil" beers, could you explain what there is about 6.66 that you find particularly abhorrent. I'm a lifelong Catholic and I'm having a hard time understanding what there is about this beer's name that so many members find repellent.

I'm on the narrow road. Had a little mead, found out it was 0.8. Felt a bit like I had sinned...
