Gunwhale Orange location is closing down. Maybe a good place for Phantom Carriage to relocate to?

Hey! I'm Daniel Muñoz, formerly of The Bruery. You are correct, myself and three of my closest friends from The Bruery have branched off to start Everywhere. The team includes myself, Jeremy Grinkey - former director of production, Stefan Weber - former production manager, and Keith Pumilia - former director of special projects and innovation. We plan to have our doors open in August. Feel free to drop us any questions or hit me up directly at [email protected]. Cheers!

Hey thanks again for all those crypto tips!

Still not sure why you needed my SSN, driver's license and mom's maiden name...

Guns? Or Phantom? Phantom opened long before Guns. I haven’t been to either in awhile. The Gunwhale CM was okay to good. But after Cheeky opened across the street from Gun I never went back. I didn’t see any need to wander inside. Maybe for the nice interior of their tasting room?

Sounds good. Another branch off The Bruery tree. The guys over at Radiant broke off during the pandemic. I dig some of their west coast stuff. Bring it on Everywhere. The more hops the better.

Just found out there's a newish brewery in Anaheim called Raymond Avenue Brewing while randomly browsing Google map. Their beers ratings on Untappd appeared above average.

    But srsly folks....

If you went to a Woodshop in Anaheim, it was likely Woodshop 5.0 on February 20th, 2010 at Bravo Night Club (near Disneyland). Good times.

We've done many events since then, almost ridiculous in tracking and naming them all, to the point that I don't even know how to identify some of them any more. We did a "Woodshop 13" thing (for what felt like the 3rd or 4th time) in December at The Hermosillo in Highland Park. So I've organized or co-organized more than 20 Woodshop or "Woodshop-esque" events over the past 15+ years, and I appreciate your enthusiasm, support, and kind words after all of this time. I love seeing and hearing from old names and faces from craft beer events of yore. That's really one of the main drivers for keeping me doing these events, and keeping me so invested in this community.

If you or anyone else are interested in partaking of the next "Woodshop-esque" event, I would suggest you look into this beer festival that I am helping to organize and execute, which is NEXT SATURDAY, 6/18, from 1pm to 5pm, called "Cellador Friends Fest 2022."

It's a big beer festival hosted by my good friends at Cellador Ales as the grand kickoff event for LA Beer Week, and they have invited me to help organize and curate some special beers and activities for the "VIP Hour" of the event, running from 12pm to 1pm. So we're going to throw down with some delicious beer, food, and shenanigans, mini-Woodshop-style.

This year's event has expanded to include much more than "just" a focus on sour beers of the past-- now there will be many non-sour beer producers in the mix, several wineries, food vendors, and just a much broader diversity of creative, indulgent experiences to take in.

Tickets are still on sale, and we have a limited amount of VIP Hour admissions still available. Buy through Eventbrite to secure your spot. This is a fundraiser for the wonderful Los Angeles County Brewers Guild and the big kickoff event for this year's LA Beer Week, so I hope you'll come out and join us in celebration of beer, community, Cellador Ales, and FRIENDS!

We've got some good stuff in the works for VIP Hour, packing things to the gills in typical Woodshop fashion, collaborating and calling on friends near and far (not just LA-based) to spread their love and support, and to bring in some specialty draft selections, Beer Floats, Masumoto peachy goodness, and a little area we're calling "Magnum Island" where we're dusting off and busting out some special, limited bottles from the vaults. A couple other surprise goodies in the works, but we can't give it ALL away. Next few days getting geared up, loaded out, locked in, and ready to go! Come out and jump in on the fun! Hope to see you there.

As for other, future events and the next "Woodshop proper"... Well... I do not have any specific plans at the moment, but I am still a sucker for craft beer, food, this ridiculous community, and experimenting and exploring everything in-between, so I'd say it's *likely* I'll do SOMETHING again at some point. During the summer, most of my free time and energy is spent working with and celebrating the amazing Masumoto peaches and nectarines, so you might see me around town making deliveries or showing up at beer releases or otherwise spreading the love of Masumoto fruit. Might try to do a small-ish dinner event of some sort later this Summer, revolving around Masumoto stonefruit and beers.

UNFORTUNATELY, I think if you ask around (and if it weren't already obvious), you'll probably hear from a lot of people that the craft beer industry and the restaurant industry have been majorly impacted by COVID-19 the past couple of years, and for many folks the year 2022 has not proven to be anything close to a "rebound" to pre-pandemic levels of prosperity or growth. It's a struggle for so many folks out there right now. And with some short-term/mid-term/long-term uncertainty still out there with public health measures, COVID variants, surges, etc., it's really hard to commit to anything specific until you are (or I am) fully focused on making that next thing happen. So while I'm always trying to stay hopeful and optimistic, and I still love beer and organizing events, all I can say right now is, "We'll see."

I'm always open to *discussing* and *looking into* potential opportunities for the next great thing, so if you or anyone else has an idea about a venue/location, format, or whatever to host the next Woodshop-esque event, I'm all ears-- hit me up! For now, I'm focused on doing what I can to make next weekend's Cellador Friends Fest as fun and exciting as it can be. Cheers!

Appreciate the well thought-out detailed reply. Initially I was like “this guy clearly wants nothing to do with this conversation” but I see now that wasn’t the case.

I thought it was 2.0 but upon looking up the location you mentioned it was definitely that venue in Anaheim. Quite a few funny memories from that one. Probably never would have gotten to try J&J Blauw and Isabelle Proximus if it wasn’t for that.

Although I’m up in the Santa Cruz area and not in a place to plan anything new this summer... would love to follow up on something maybe this winter/off-season.
Seems like a lot of people have deep cellars to share these days especially after the pandemic.

    cheers.
