“Rather standard” I find to be a unique phrasing. It is, after all a non adjunct ba stout, fairly straight forward. Anyways, I thought it held up well against bbt 21. Pretty much delivered exactly what it’s suppose to be.

Do you need to buy a draft pour for the non-acloholic seltzers?

As in does it count as a draft pour? No, since it’s non-alcoholic. That said, you still order a ticket from the draft app page for seltzers.

I need to revisit the rest, I was really put off by the perceived bitterness but my palette has definitely adjusted since

I 100% agree and I wasn’t expecting that. Drinking it now and the profile is definitely different than regular jm and jjjm which I absolutely loved

Just got to Deerfield for the first time. Not to be a Karen but I’m pretty annoyed. They aren’t taking pizza orders because the wait for a pizza is longer than they’ll be open for. There’s no other food option and we planned on eating dinner here. The draft line is snaked across the entire building and is at least an hour wait. There has to be a better way to do this. End rant

^^^ sorry to hear that. Part of what’s kept me from going to Deerfield is the pizza situation. Does anyone know if they always have the oven going? Or it is on random days?

I’ve gotta agree about incredible machine, I don’t know if it hits the same notes as juice machine or it’s counterpart

It was a pretty comical experience being there, but I can just laugh about it now.

Pulled in at 3:50 and was greeted by the person at the door who was checking IDs and giving draft wrist bands. He was exclaiming to all the dads "Pizza and beer! The best way to do fathers day!". Little did he know (I hope), there was no more pizza to be had, and your beer will take over an hour to get.
We get through the initial check in process to get tickets and are directed to an elevator.... an elevator. This is because we had a stroller (just to take care of my self conciousness, feeling your judgemental eyes on the screens, I'll let you know that this is the first time I've ever brought my child to a brewery). I can see this elevator possibly being an issue because it was the only one in the area that I noticed, and I saw a lot of strollers, not to mention if anyone there was in a wheel chair or had a hard time getting around. Anyway, we get off the elevator and see the immense line going through the middle of the entire building. The line goes past a huge % of the tables where people were eating and trying to enjoy the afternoon while 120+ of us zombies are just standing around next to them waiting to get a drink. My wife obviously isn't going to stand with me and also entertain the little one, nor do I want or expect her to do that after seeing this monsterous line. She decides to head outside to wait and on the way out, check in at the pizza station to try to order. I see her giving an awkward laugh and then she calls me and says they aren't taking any pizza orders because it's a 2.5 hour wait and they'll be closed before then.

So I got in line at exactly 4pm and a few others were talking about the situation. Apparently the line wasn't so bad earlier in the day. I ended up getting beers in hand at 5:06pm and they close at 6pm. This one couple behind me had already gotten their first pour earlier and were now in line forced to get their other two beers each (they bought 3 pour tickets) with less than an hour to drink them before having to drive home.

The best part might have been when I finally got outside, without even taking my first sip yet, an employee came up to us and was like "Hey guys just want to let you know, it's going to be last call, so if you want more beer get in line now".

Anyone here knows I don't usually make the most serious of posts and am usually just spouting off nonsense for personal entertainment. I just wanted to share this for anyone who's looking to go to Deerfield on a weekend or a holiday.

I would have quickly bailed and gone to Berkshire Brewing instead, or headed back down 91 to Fort Hill, my new favorite brewery along the MA 91 corridor.

The great part about that, is I would lose the money I spent on the drink tickets. You need to buy them in advance and they're non-refundable. So you're stuck

    That's a pretty terrible experience.
Selfishly asking, how's the experience in Charlton on a Monday morning?

It’s a holiday for some and a very nice day so there might be an uptick in crowds, but normally early week (M-W)/opening time is a breeze. Those are always the days I pick to go. Sometimes Thursdays, but never on the weekends.

I can understand this but have not had a problem on weekends recently for the most part. Been on a Saturday and Sunday afternoon and maybe a 15 minute wait for pours, though the line for the main bar seems to ebb and flow so nice if you can keep an eye out. That said, if you like the pilsners and pale ales I have never seen a line at the "classic" bar. I certainly don't prefer it but if it looks like the line is going to stay busy I usually get both of my pours at once. I am not a guy who nurses my beer for an hour so not much of an issue for me..

I was at Charlton at open yesterday just to pick up cans. I don't like to punish myself by standing in line but was shooting to be at my brother's place in Sterling by 1:00 so no choice...there was a pretty large line when we got in it at 11:55 but the staff did a great job of moving up the line handing out bracelets and such and almost everyone was getting pours so I was out of there with cans around 12:15 so no complaints.

Sorry to VP for their experience in Deerfield. The Sunday I went was pretty busy as well but not nearly as bad as he had. Hopefully they continue to work out all the kinks over there.

Deerfield has only one bar that I know of. Charlton has the classic style bar, which should help the lines.

I had already been planning to go to Charlton next week, but going yesterday was a last minute suggestion from my wife, so I figured we'd go later in the day and check out Deerfield for the first time. I think her mood would have been worse if it was my idea :sunglasses:

Anyway, I'm looking forward to Charlton next week on a Wednesday with some friends. It should be pretty chill. I can't imagine their reaction if I brought them into that disaster yesterday.

Oh, snap, yeah, didn't think about that!

And for what it's worth, a friend of mine went Friday afternoon to Deerfield, he said it was pretty chill, no problems. So hopefully your experience was a seldom one for peeps, Fathers day... nice day... you had everything stacked against you. And yeah, thank god it was your wife's idea!

Deerfield will have problems with only the one bar. Which was why they had a limit of tickets sold to reserve a time in the past. They were easing up on walk ins but I’m sure that will change now. But, Father’s Day was going to be brutal regardless. A lot of folks haven’t traveled much until this summer since ya know, we all got stuck.

Cape’s system has been awesome. Our visits there have been amazing and easy. Just show up early to your time to pick your spot, especially if you want the deck.

Charlton last weekend on a Sunday at 1 or so wasn’t too bad. Like ebbed and flowed as me yield with maybe the worst wait being 15 min. Classics bar also had a line.

There isn’t much you can do until kids back to school. My advice is get there before opening and you’ll experience minimal issues.

Charlton will be redeeming on Wednesday. Say Cheese is typically there on Wednesday’s, I highly recommend them. Figgin goat with bacon is my go to, but they’re all great.
