Will be stepping into the virtual bar in a few hours, an Irish bar with authentic brogues, though only a wee bit down the road from home.

My bottle has been in the fridge too long, dated 2021-05-19. At ~13 months age it's lost some pizazz but remains quite tasty despite.

When relatively fresh this is my hands-down overall favorite wheat beer of any wheat style. Remarkable stuff truly.

Skyscraper. Red Wine (barel aged) Quadrupel from Nøgne Ø (Norway).
Nice evening beer, but nothing special to be honest. Red wine and beer is not a great combination to me I guess.

8-Bit Aleworks, in Avondale, AZ. A small brewery with creative brews. Good things here.

 

In your opinion, are you getting much from the wine or too much? The ones I have enjoyed bring a dark, tangy fruit note with maybe a hint of barrel and light tannin. However, most I’ve found don’t bring much wine character.

My guess is spirit barrels have the potential to produce better accent flavors with short aging where wine might require a bit more. I’m also sure there are many other factors (number of uses, time between uses, etc) that are in play. Anyone have insight as to how off base my guesses are?

I worked 21.5 hours yesterday and declined working today for overtime. Instead, I went to the grocery and beer store...

First time with this. I'm a fan. I may have a Cuba Libre in a minute before I have to quit and start hydrating for two more brutal days of work in 100+, but for now I'm feeling alright. Cheers all!
