keeping it non-BA’d today. almost moving backwards toward breakfast. this one has a nice mouthfeel. it’s not too sweet but i definitely get a nice coffee / maple / cinnamon flavor combo.

A bit late, but last Friday we had our monthly SAN (Stout Appreciation Night) and these were most of the bottles. Not pictured was a stout/cherry mead braggot from Two Guys brewing, a Pastryarchy flavored beer from Duclaw (Candy Cane Imperial Stout) and a Rum BA Imperial Porter from New Holland "Banana's Foster"
    It was a good evening.

How was the braggot? That's a style I want to find more of but nobody makes em here.

Very little carbonation and the taste was dominated by the cherry. Curiously though, not as much as the Bells Cherry Stout. It just seemed more mead than beer, like perhaps their balance was off. Not sure I'd buy that specific one again, at least not this iteration, but if they do it again in the future I'd give it a shot.

Our very local KinderHill Brewing had a couple imperial stouts for their 1st Anniversary. I had the pleasure to enjoy their Just Another Brunch Spot both on tap and from a bottle. The fresh tap beer had a spicy dark berries flavor, along with the dark chocolate up front. The bottled version, aged just about 1.5 months, had a distinct coconut finish added. I look forward to their 2nd anniversary beers!

Opened this to celebrate a concert ticket purchase of a bandi have seen but never an all acoustic set. Spent last night watching their recent unplugged 2019 set and their earlier one as well. Saw them at Hollywood Forever Cemetery for Dia De Los Muertos and it was almost life changing.
I almost opened my DB VSOD but I'm saving that for the show date.
    Shits gonna be EPIC

Today's tasty and delicious beer is plain old New Holland's Dragon's Milk. I used "plain old", cuz it's just a "plain old". I like this beer 'cuz if I want a BA Impy Stout, I can find this just about anyplace, 24/7/365, I can't say that about any other stout. Is it great, no, is it tasty'n delicious, darn tootin' it is.
L: As BA stouts go, its thin, almost watery.
    S: Coffee, chocolate.
T: Tastes like it smells, add some vanilla and maybe some ash or char from the barrel.
F: Thin and watery, a bit more carbonation than most BA Impy stouts.
O: Not a great beer beer by any stretch, but it's something that's always in my fridge![IMG]

    Jackie O's Anvil Chorus
Imperial Stout Aged in Bourbon Barrels for 16 months. Sent to me by Asshat @Beer_Economicus earlier this year.
This is only the second BA Stout I've had from Jackie O; the first being BA Dark Apparition which I did not like at all.

Took out of fridge and let sit for 15 min or so to warm up, it's hot as hell out here right now so must be at near room temp by now.
Poured out very light brown, cola brown into glass and did not form any head. Settled black .
Smell is big time charred dark malts and bourbon on the backbone. Some toffee, cocoa and sweet caramel as well come in with dark fruit. A lot going on and i like it.
Taste is a very nice blend of all smells i expected. The alcohol heat isn't as aggressive as say Deths Tar, but still very prominent here. It starts with nice heat from barrel and followed by waves of bakers dark chocolate, plums and a nice touch of sweetness from satan knows where . I like this.
Mouthfeel is also very well put together. A little thick, all the flavors stay on the tongue and one doesn't overpower the other .
I really enjoy this and will be drinking this bottle by end of day. I came in apprehensive expecting what BA Dark Apparition was,but this is much much better. I can't wait to try Temple Of Minerva.

    Rated this 4.68 on BA

BA dark apparition was hot garbage. Bad enough for me to write the brewery off completely.

Yea it was terrible compared to Dark Apparition. I prefer the base to the BA version 100000 times over. I usually like BA Versions as much or more than base versions so i was disappointed.

This Anvil Chorus is fuckin amazing though, i HIGHLY recommend it

Another beer "left behind" from the Minnesotans weekend invasion, this one is a stout, and one that was pretty tasty, albeit, too sweet....

Pours a thick'n chewy black, tan head that lingered, but alas no lacing. Boogar factory says coffee and cocoa, taste buds get all that, some vanilla and of co6some whiskey, that being said, too much cocoa and coffee, very close to being too sweet. Pretty good beer, the added junk, was a bit too much....enjoy what's in yer glass......[IMG]

This one is my introduction to imperial stouts with coffee, etc. added. So far, so good. Think I'll be having more of this kind in the future.

Given the lack of accuracy and certainty with the date, it's an odd choice for a beer name, but I give credit to Shortfuse for at least going with 1995 even though Bourbon County labels used (?) to say "since 1992" right on them. I recall (the Goose Island-obsessed) Josh Noel putting out an article trying to convince readers that 1995 was a more likely date than '92. I wonder if Shortfuse was referencing this article.

I might be missing something, but as far as I know there isn't coffee in that beer. Does it say espresso "notes" on the label? If so, you might need to find another introduction.

But what are you using to distinguish between "American" and "Russian?" Narwhal being classified as Russian on this site and Ten Fidy being classified as American (to use the two beers in the post you quoted) seems more like an exercise in random categorization than anything significantly meaningful.
