I picked up in Sandwich last summer (early September) before they were open for pours. Went 1st thing in the morning and there were very few cars there but that was before the parking fee was instituted. I can't imagine they can charge for parking just for pickup as that is a pretty big premium to pay for cans especially if you are just ordering a couple of 4 packs.

Heading on I91 on our way to Vermont on the 4th and was thinking of stopping at the Deerfield location to pick up and have a pour and pizza. Any advice? S-show there on the 4th?

Don't go. See my post a page or two back of my experience at Deerfield on Father's Day. Cliff notes:
    - Waited 1 hour and 5 minutes in line to get pours at the bar
    - 2.5 hour wait for pizza. At the time I arrived they were no longer taking orders because the pizza wouldn't be ready before they closed

Holiday probably changes things, but I have been 4 times on Friday or Saturday and had a less than 5 minute wait for draft pour. Pizza was 20-30 minutes.

I had one visit for an on-site concert. Place was pretty packed but they were sufficiently staffed. Draft pour line was about 15 minutes. Pizza took 45.

I’m going tomorrow on my way to NH.

Possibly. But I was just there on this past Sunday after vacation at the Cape. School was already out for most more than a week before and things were in full swing on the Cape. They’re not going to make you pay for parking to pick up cans. They have dedicated spots for it.

It's an easy stop off the highway, I would definitely order cans to go at least. If they aren't sold out on reservations you can make one once you are there, though it seems likely to sell out I would guess.

started laughing. Having this post actually makes me feel a little bit better about them making mistakes.

It’s a lot bigger than the shed I have bought beer from them in the past from. It was kind of like driving up to Disney World but for adults. Period did not stay though had kids with me. Order was correct.

Doesn't look like it was posted but they have a Farmhouse Ale available for purchase as of today:

    Selective Perception

(Dry-hopped Farmhouse Ale, 750ml, 1PP) Selective Perception is a dry-hopped Saison featuring Hallertau Blanc and Motueka hops. Brewed with a base of pale malt and wheat, and dry-hopped with the two feature hops, it carries beautiful and expressive notes of white wine, grassy citrus, and grapefruit. Bottle-conditioned, it carries a billowing white head and supple mouthfeel. It’s a special beer, indeed—Enjoy!

I've been hoping to see more or these for a while now, rather than just the on-site Native bottles.

If Metaconscious is still available you should buy it. Absolutely fantastic farmhouse beer.

The parking lot now charges $20 until 4:00 pm…it’s a town beach parking lot. After 4:00 there’s no fee, or at least there wasn’t when I was there yesterday.

The parking spots that abut the building seem to be intended for pick-ups. We chose to grab drafts in the 5-8 pm time slot to avoid the shuttle situation (our group has 2 dogs one of which is a tripawed and would not likely board a shuttle). It worked out great…parking was easy, had a few drafts and grabbed takeout from Off the Grid which is down the street (no food truck on Wednesday).

    Hope this helps…

Yeah that would’ve been perfect. I started to giggle when I saw it. I was with my 9 and 11 year old. Just driving up to the place and then getting out of the car and seeing the amount of people there made me realize how large the operation was. Makes a little bit more sense why they can’t get orders perfect every time. Holy f what an operation. There’s just too many people and too many moving parts. It’s absolutely insane. Now I just have to find time to get up there and have a couple of draft beers. Probably not happening for the next 10 years though. Next time I go up there they’ll probably be a roller coaster.
    Had two tonight.
    pizzaria pills okay

Key strategy: encourage one of your kids to attend Umass Amherst. Deerfield trip every time you drop off. (Good parenting is about long term planning.)

I would recommend Azure if it’s still around. But I’m a sucker for beers with Nelson Sauvin.

Nelson is one of those hops, you’re either in or out. It’s not for me, I’ve tried, and tried, I’m not a huge fan of the white wine taste, even less so in beer.

Alter Ego is brewed much less and is a great substitute for Julius.

Yup, that will probably be one I get, along with King Julius and Haze. I’d love to try Doubleganger but the description specifically says it should be kept cold and my hookup isn’t able to do that so I’m probably going to skip it.
