Chicago O’Hare on my way home from a work trip. At the Publican having what’s on the glass. Hey @russpowell i think I remember you stopping here a good while back, they don’t have the pork skins anymore and I’m disappointed.

 

Good morning BAs! I left for Hilo at 5:30am to make a beer run, then hit the dump on the way home (no garbage pickup here)…coffee time - Ola Brew, Kailua-Kona, HI’s “Kiawe Vanilla Porter”, brewed with Kona Vanilla Beans:



Dark brown pour with ruby see-through with some clarity under dark beige/creamed coffee head; some cap retention; solid ring; sudsy lacing. Chocolate malt nose; vanilla as it warms. Vanilla and cocoa; semi sweet chocolate and vanilla. Soft almost smooth feel; medium light body; moderate minus carbonation; no warmth from 6.8% abv. A respectable porter with a decidedly vanilla finish, but there is something about the linger that tastes metallic(?)/artificial; expensive at $15.99/6 12oz cans…

It rained all last night and most of this morning so far (it’s 8am). The trade winds are 15-25mph and it’s a cool 67°. I may have another beer as I wait for a break in the rain to go feed the fish…Cheers and Aloha y’all!

Stay Fly DIPA 8% - Odd Muse Brewing Co

 

The sun peeked out enough to snap this pic from the outside shower balcony - 10 Barrel Brewing Co.’s “Apocalypse IPA”:



A tasty WCIPA right up my alley with bitter lemon peel, grapefruit, pineapple and earthy pine. Light sticky pine resin in the feel.

Looks like a pause on the rain so I’m off to do my morning chores. Cheers!

 

Trying a sessionable milk stout received from a friend. Nice notes of roasted malts to go with lactose and dark chocolate. Surprisingly balanced, definitely would have again but likely a one-off.

#1 rated beer on BA once upon a time...

 

Onto round 2, thought i better get into the Sierra Nevada Alpha Hop Society stuff since i just picked up a new sixer yesterday. Colonel Zolo, which was a late February release, is an Imperial Red ale aged in rum barrels. Rum is very subtle and blends well with the west coast hops of the base beer.
Da Boss is spinning an old PHX favorite from the Gin Blossoms.

Tropicalia from the can.

 

Came in a Care Box from @jzeilinger .... What a nice surprise it was.

 

Stone IPA (Magnum, Chinook, Centennial, Azacca, Calypso, Ella, Vic Secret). Was inspired by @TheIPAHunter to go out and find some of this old classic. The buy out is hard to believe, but you could see the writing on the wall for some time. I feel the recipe change was completely unnecessary, but despite that, this is still some righteous stuff.

 

We’re at Behr Brewing Co. In Cape May, NJ for the first time. It just opened in May. Nice place! I’m starting with One of Those, a malty, bitter, Southern-style IPA with a hint of red fruit. I’m enjoying it on this warm, muggy afternoon. Cheers!
