Here's my NBW posting for Grain Belt Nordeast:

    https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/new-beer-weekend-102.667743/page-3#post-7559354

Here are some excerpts for those who don't want to follow the link:

The initial flavor is somewhat sweet, balanced with a crispness. Some hops bittering, and a touch of hay in the middle, leading to a slightly bitter, slightly sweet finish. The aftertaste is pleasant and sweet, but with a bit of a crisp, lightly bitter character lingering in my mouth, inviting another sip. As the beer warms, it develops a tartness in the finish.

This is quite good, for a cheap amber lager. Good flavor and enjoyable on a summer day. While it won’t be a regular in my refrigerator, I certainly would pick this out happily from an AAL-filled cooler.

Going to be in the cities this weekend and it might be my only shot at finding this elusive Schell Hefe....just wondering if anyone has seen it anywhere...will be coming in from the north to Maple Grove then on Saturday over to North St. Paul. Has anyone seen it or any other fresh hefe's??

South Lyndale Liquors had a few warm 12 packs a week ago
Keyport in Superior had a large quantity of 6 or 12, 2 weeks ago

I can't speak to Schell's Hefe availability where you're going to be, but I'd recommend you keep an eye out for Fair State Hefeweizen. It's quite good this year imho.

Untappd claims that Top Value in Columbia Heights has it, as does Total Wine in Maple Grove. Might be worth a stop through either. Hopefully if either place has them, it was kept cold.

@ZAP Definitely get the Fair State Hefe if you find it.

That Top Valu list is way outdated. They're listing crowlers of 12welve Eyes.

In the west ex-burbs and have not seen Schell's Hefe or Fair State Hefe. We only get Utepils which I buy every week but would like to switch it up. I haven't had any good hefeweizens at taprooms this year either. I have tried the attempts that are around but :-1: Makes me sad.

I thought Waldmann's and Bad Weather's hefes were both good.

Recon for @ZAP, Total Wine in Maple Grove only had 1 6-pack of Schell's hefe that I saw. The employee said there may be 1 12-pack on the shelf (with the other 12-packs), there was not.

Just a comment that the new retro-looking labels for Deer Brand are pretty sweet.

I know what I'm asking here, but is there an image at the website?*

*Oh yeah, not quite a reboot (like the old can on the left or my pic in post #29), but definitely retro looking.

Great news. After calling numerous liquor stores in the Twin Cities metro I could not find Schell Hefe anywhere. At least at the main places you'd look for craft beer in the Twin Cities. No wonder it doesn't sell!

Total wine Maple Grove didn't show it on their website when I looked..

BUT on the journey back north I found numerous (Maybe a half dozen or so) cold 12 packs at Westside Liquor by the mall in St. Cloud. Maybe they ordered it all? Haven't tried it yet.

For any Weihensephaner fans the Maple Grove Haskells has some pretty fresh Helles that tasted great. Dates were within three months of brew date if I remember right. Unless that was best by date..either way they were great..

Also happy to find Lupulin Dortmunder which never makes it north.

Got in late Friday. Hit Bad Habbit (very good) for a quick one and to grab some crowlers. Tied up with family event Saturday. On way back we hit Pantown (solid) and Roundhouse (Good band, bad beer).
