My younger son has a culinary degree. He didn’t really enjoy the field after a few years so changed careers. He just bought a smoker. I’m always critical, so I’m not one to blow smoke up anyone’s uhhhh, family or not. That meat was delicious. I just had some of the leftovers from the Sunday get together. I think he found his culinary niche…smoked meat. I must have eaten a pound!

This is one that I meant to open a while back and then kinda forgot about it… but it’s very interesting, I wish I had drank one last year to compare to what it’s tasting like now.

Drinking a Grapefruit Nectar, by RAR Brewing out of Cambridge MD. I'd forgotten I reviewed it back in 2015, and it's interesting to see how my assessment has held up over 7 years (and the intervening 1207 beers). Let's see....
My somewhat gushy 2015 review called it "one of my top IPAs, for sure". A little bit of data mining (yes, I have a spreadsheet...) shows it's now in a 7-way tie for 78th out of my 1930 beers. That's the 96th percentile, which is - yep - one of my top IPAs. Good stuff.

A New Trail Pineapple Broken Heels. A lot like their flagship Broken Heels except it's kind of heavy on the pineapple (duh). I think all of New Trail's stuff is very good, and this is no exception.

 

Mile walk to Sidewinders Grill. This Roadhouse Walrus IPA is tasting pretty good.

Reminds me of a story. Please Mike, spare us. Anyway my boss son got a degree in health something or other from JMU. He wanted to be a chef. Boss sent him to a school in England to learn the art.

Graduated but the jobs he got he did not like. Kid decided to do something else. Went back to school for some sort of info tech program. Found his niche. Tens of thousands of dollars later.

 

I couldnt live without smoking. I did wings and 60 pounds of pork butts on Saturday at the restaurant for the holiday weekend. That seems like an investment you need to make for the beautiful piece of property you have.
