At Twin Elephant Brewing, drinking 4 AM Friday , a 4.7% ABV AIPA. This brew is hopped with Nelson Sauvignon, Pacific Sunrise, Comet and Phantasm hops. It a hazy golden color with a lasting white head. The aroma is strong and fruity. It tastes great well balanced between malt and fruit. The body and mouthfeel is light. This could be the lightest IPA I have ever had. 4 AM Friday is excellent Summer beer, very drinkable and refreshing.

Veltins German Pilsner. Not one I see very often. After I bought the 4 pack, I realized the date on the package is best by, not canned on, so this is actually over 2 months past the best by date  Completely on me, but it's not bad at all actually. No off-flavors. With the reduced noble hop presence, this drinks more like a nice Helles and I'm completely okay with that.

I enjoyed it. Nice opener for me today. A lot of body for a lager. I do know it left my mouth dry af. Cheers Dave!

Tonight's Blind Battle Beer Tasting Lineup:

    1) Paulaner Pilsner (4.8%):
An authentic German Pils with flavors of lemon citrus, toasty German bread malts, honey, yeast, and authentic Munich malts on the finish.
    versus
    2) Bitburger Pilsner (4.8%): An authentic German Pilsner with flavors of cracker malts, dry German yeast. A full, clean finish. Dry and earthy.
    (correctly matched these two blind)

    3) Junkyard Bad Larry (6.8% canned 5/16/22): A NEIPA from Minnesota with Azacca and Enigma hops for flavors of lemon rind, citrus flower, and tropical papaya flavors.
    versus
    4) DESTIHL Steal Your Haze (7.0% canned 4/18/22): A DDH NEIPA from Illinois with flavors of orange and tangerine, citrus rind, pineapple. Juicy, with some hop burn on the finish.
    (mismatched these two blind)
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Winners:

    1) Paulaner Pils:
The gold-standard of German Pilsner for a reason. This one has a fantastic lemonflower hops flavor balanced by lightly sweet, pale Munich malts. Bitburger was decent, but less flavor.

    3) Junkyard Bad Larry: A unique blend of hops, and this one was unexpectedly great. I lean skeptical of a brewery named Junkyard with a beer named after a fish, but should have learned from Two-Hearted. It has nice lemon rind, citrus flower, and tropical papaya flavors. The Goldilocks for ABV provides a smooth, clean finish. Will revisit this brewery.

I go to a German bar that generally has a good tap list. If I ask for a glass, they usually give it to me. They just anounced that they are having Oktofest this year after not having one for the past 3 years. Can't wait!

Nice choice. One of the better German Pils in my opinion. I found it leans dry, yet flavorful and authentic.

I love the dryness it brings. Infinitely drinkable. Despite being past the best by date, this still has some nice character to it. Makes me want to go to Germany. Cheers!

Nice! I drink German pilsners quite frequently. I've found anything less than four months old in a can to be quite satisfactory, provided it's been stored properly.

Greeting on a steady July Wednesday BA's! I've been on a Farmhouse Ale/Saison kick lately. Have stumble upon some nice ones at my local bottle shop. This is Blackberry Farms Harvest. No date on the bottle but it was probably bottled in 2020. This has held up well. It's mellowed some but no obvious flaws. Great combo of wheat, rye and oats give it a silky mouth feel and spicy notes. Also some apple and pear. Quite enjoyable. Cheers!

That is such a nice German Pils. My local bottle shop has started carrying it and I am very happy about it.
