Hit pFriem's BBA Imperial Stout last weekend. 2019 vintage.

Really nice, a seemingly rare non-adjunct version of the style. Worth seeking out.

I'm mildly allergic to peanuts and find them nauseating, so this is like a a war crime to me.
But if I had a large supply of an imperial stout on hand, I'd consider using a little in some experiments with bourbon.

Non-adjunct stouts are worth seeking out, a well brewed one is the reason this thread exists. Or at least that’s why I come here.
That looks really good @woemad - and I hope your weekend goes well!

Breweries in France know how to make some of the best imperial stouts in the world. This is Robot Oil from Brasserie Des Garrigues. 12.5% ABV and super intense. The taste is insane. Super intense and rich. The roasted malts are at the forefront. This is a straight up imperial stout that doesn't try to hide itself with other stuff. If you like intense imperial stouts, this is the one for you. Burnt toffee, charred wood, black licorice, tobacco, coffee grounds, molasses, some dark fruit, and vanilla. 4.5 for me.

I'm pretty sure this stuff is non-allergenic. Enjoy:grin:

Have you had Uncle Jacob's? My favorite stout from Avery, by far!

It probably is, but at this point in my life the smell of something peanuty almost always induces a gag reflex, so I'll pass.

Seems like virtually all the bourbon barrel aged stouts available in my neck of the woods also has some sort of adjunct in it. I'm not anti-adjunct, mind you (if it's used well), but ones that are just a straight BBA version tend to stand out to me. Hope you have a great weekend as well!

It's a good take. Well-flavored adjunct stouts are often amazing, but I am constantly impressed by brewers who can extract maximum flavor from the standard ingredients without having to add anything. Same can be said for sours, but that's for another thread.

[IMG]This is probably my most enjoyable Bottle Logic experience out of the couple I’ve had.

pours a frothy, grainy, bubbly head which reduces to a thin ring and soapy islands. Nose is chocolate, vanilla, roasted grain, oak, and some nuttiness. Taste follows suit with chocolate sauce up front and some subtle, very authentic pistachio notes, finishing heavy barrel vanilla and toasted oak. Feel is very thick and full, nearly chewy. Overall, excellent. 4.25/5. Courtesy of the “King of Communism” Tomas. @Resistance88

Unwrap an Andes Chocolate Mint -you know the ones - small rectangular candies consisting of one mint-green layer sandwiched between two cocoa based chocolate layers.
Pour out a regular Big Bad Baptist. Drink a hit, eat the mint. End up with a chocolatey mint taste, touch of coffee and a bit of alcohol burn.
Nice little creative novelty, glad I tried it,,.,. but nothing I’d go back after.,.

    Oh yeah, that just happened.

Out for dinner with the Mrs. and had to try this. It's damn near perfect. Roasted malt goodness and the barrel aspect (they don't specify so I'm assuming bourbon barrels) complements the alcohol without overpowering.

Again, this is pretty much perfect.

Oh yeah- they tapped 2 of them by mistake, so me, being the upstanding guy I am, drank both. The Mrs. was driving.

I’ve confessed my sins on WBAYDN tonight, but I must confess them here. This is my first “Storm King”. I have been going to Victory ever since they opened and have tried most of their beers. What a great straight up Imperial Stout. I regret not trying it back in its heyday, but nonetheless, fantastic! Oh, my buddy Max is in the background to witness my contrition!

A bold beer to review at 2:30 AM but it's the weekend and I'm not tired so why not? 'Arrived in a generous box from @DrOfGolf and first experience with this Abyss variant. I really like the original base beer and this doesn't disappoint!
