I love it. My favorite is ice cold shots of it. Might as well be drinking 70 proof peanut butter syrup. Good stuff. Cheers.

[IMG] I’ve come to learn there is no better judge of imperial stouts than Tomas @Resistance88 Therefore, when he says “Do you want to try _____?”, I say yes every time. This is one of those beers that wasn’t even on my radar and has quickly become a star in my eyes after only a few ounces. Onto the review:

Pours a black coffee hue with a decent cola head reducing to a thin ring and leaving sheets of sudsy lacing. Nose is big dark, fresh ground coffee beans. Vanilla, chocolate, plum, prune and black cherry are undertones with a light coconut finish. Taste follows suit with a big toasty malt overtone and everything else basically becoming accents with a huge espresso finish. Very good beer; coming from a guy who doesn’t necessarily rave over coffee stouts. Overall, I’m gonna go 4/5; well above average. Cheers.

I was treading in the barleywine thread yesterday and wanted to get back with an imperial stout today after driving home to Connecticut from our vacation in Pennsylvania. Ive got some local PA beers coming for this thread, but tonight is a northeast beauty from Vermont.
This is North of Kathmandu from Burlington Beer Company. A 9.5% imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels with toasted coconut. Sounds like a solid partnership!

    Onto my review:
Sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can, received as part of EPL fantasy BIF winnings.
The beer is poured into my snifter and pours an extremely dark cola to black coffee color with no light passing through my glass. The dense creamy head is a tan to a very dark brown and slowly fades to a sturdy edge layering and one large island in my glass. Leaves dense sticky lattice when I swirl the glass or take a sip. Looks like a nice Impy Stout here!
The aroma is some dark chocolate, roasted malt, hints of toasted coconut and a little bourbon. No hop presence and hidden booze too. I was hoping for a little more robust nose.
First sip reveals a medium to thick body with very smooth texture and mild coating of my lips for each sip. Carbonation is very fine and rolls gently across my palate. Overall very soft physical beer.
Flavor is big dark chocolate and roast malts, with again only hints of the toasted coconut and bourbon. The bourbon is what lingers a bit on the finish, but its not a huge presence. I also get a bit of drying on the finish and some warmth on the swallow.
This is a solid imperial stout, the bourbon and coconut could be a little more robust in my opinion, but they are present and its not a problem that they are mild.
Glad to have tried this one!

Mind blown by this one. Trinity in Black Bourbon BA Imperial Stout. Aged in Heaven Hill Barrels with Tonka beans, vanilla, and cinnamon. Insanely good.

Im back with another imperial stout tonight. Well, its in the stout category on BA, but at 8% I think it can fit for this thread. This is Untitled Art Cinnamon Roll Gold Stout. The gold stout part of the beer name is critical for the experience, as it threw me off quite a bit up front.

    onto my review:
Sampling a cellar temp 12 oz can poured into my snifter. Date Stamp is 10-26-2021.
Pours a surprisingly copper color from the can and exhibits as a dark mahogany with garnet highlights in the glass.
I missed the gold stout in the name of the beer. A dense creamy khaki colored head of 1 cm foams up and fades to a thin edge layer soon after the pour. I do get some scattered lattice when I swirl the beer or take a sip. Honestly doesnt look terribly stout like in the glass.
Aroma is some sweet brown sugar and cinnamon with a bit of a doughnut scent and some sweet general fruitiness. No hop character and not any fusol booze here. But the nose isnt very stout like either IMO. Ive had other gold stouts that smell like chocolate or roasted malt, not here.
First sip reveals a medium body with very fine and tingly carbonation. texture is smooth and the beer drinks pretty easy.
Flavor is similar to the nose. I get cinnamon and brown sugar with some bready sweet doughnut notes. A bit of vanilla is in there and there is some warmth on the finish. Also a bit of sweet fruit, almost like a cordial candy. The warming could be booze or cinnamon spice?
    No hop character here either.
This is a tasty beer that is definitely sweet and does taste like a cinnamon roll. But doesnt look the part of a stout and has no typical stout flavors or aromas (roasted malts, chocolate etc). This would be better labled cinnamon roll amber ale in my opinion.

All of their "Stouts" are horrible. No body, too sweet and artificial. I don't even believe they're Stouts at all. Caramel colored added to alcoholic beverages. Even though this one says "Gold Stout", that's pretty much how all of them look. Maybe be a tiny bit darker.

Man I really disagree. I’ve had several of what would be described as a “pastry” stout from them and I really think they’re great. A little on the sweeter side but I suppose if you like those kind of beers, you would expect that. To each his own I suppose. Cheers.
