Suarez Merkel 2021(Montmorency cherries): They make some of the best cherry saison/wilds out there. Beautiful color, tart cherry pie on the nose, mild acidity and mild funk.

The head quickly retreated before holding at a thin blanket, leaving no lace. Boooooo. The second poor added quite a bit of sediment.

It was aged on peach purée, with white wine must. The aroma presents peach with light funkiness, however, it lacks the brightness expected from the fruit. It is earthy and the hops are apparent. In general the aroma is a bit dull.

Pleasant tartness is in balance with mild sweetness. The peach seems to be short of ripe, with the bitter skins being more noticeable than the meat. Warming draws out the white wine quality. It is fairly dry, with a quick mild finish.

A medium body and corse texture. The texture is greatly effected by the effervescent carbonation, which amplifies as it warms. Alcohol is about as expected at 7.5%.

While an enjoyable beer, I imagine if the fruit and wine are tuned more, than this beer will shine. As is, it will work with grilled muscles. For the Forth of July, a bright Bohemian Pilsner is waiting, and maybe something more exciting is in order for the evening.

Petition to change this site to Saison Advocate, let's just do it now and get it over with.
I would be most pleased by this change. And I feel like it would make all the Barleywine stans cry.

Borderline saison content (while a farmhouse ale, this is described as a sahti):

Love it! Excellent Brett saison overall. Really satisfying on a hot day.

Big difference in clarity. A case of pouring the sediment vs. not?

I typically always leave the dregs in the bottle except for Allagash White. I had just pulled this from the fridge so maybe extra chill haze?

Mine had been sitting in the fridge undisturbed for about four months, so quite possibly it had settled enough that my initial pour had greater clarity. When I emptied the bottle, it looked more like Davl22's.

Was at trivia at Wellspent Brewing (my first time there) and had this wonderful saison. I was particularly struck by the high carbonation (you can see the how high the head was in the picture before it receded) and pillowy light texture yet it was not light on flavor. Lovely florals and grassy notes, chamomile, lemon peel, and a little white pepper on the finish.

You ( mr. Only 3 pages)and the Barleywine guys dont stand a chance against the Imperial Stout thread.
This reminded me that i have a Saison Du Pont and Saison Du Rosier from Cellador in my fridge.

My wife is a huge horse beer fan and i generally keep 3 or 4 horse beers in the fridge for her

I know. It’s depressing to see massive thicc boys getting more love during a heatwave than Saison, but se la vie.

A bit older, December 2021 but really good. A slight sour refreshing lemony earthy drank from the can. I had this fresh on tap early winter and I like this canned much more.

    Enjoy

Green Bench Brewing Never Too Much- Blend of bourbon barrel aged sour ales. At 6% this has no right being this good. First whiff was toffee blondie bars, overripe pear/banana, stone fruit, lemon zest and cocoa powder. Incredibly complex. The type of beer that you pick up something different every time you breathe in. Balanced acidity and funk. Wish I had another bottle.

Cheers to the thiccy thic boys!
