Wolf's Ridge in Columbus announced a new "festbeer" - called "SeptemberFest"
    looks good to me!

also, Fatheads here in NE Ohio announced their G'Suffa Octoberfest brew is available now at their brewery giftshop and in distro next week....one of my local favs!

    Eins Zwei Drei G'Suffa!

G'Suffa Oktoberfest Lager is back at the Beer Hall in Middleburg Heights this week, both on draft and 6pks to go from the Gift Shop. This 5.7% ABV and 25 IBU Oktoberfest is brewed with imported German malts that give this modern Festbier a subtle sweetness. It is lighter in body than a Marzen and deep gold in color with aromas of toasted grains. Crisp, crackery malt flavor is balanced by German noble hop flavor and aroma, making it a smooth and highly drinkable brew. G'Suffa makes its way out to retailers starting next week. Prost!

Made a quick sweep of the local big liquor retailer today -- no Fall releases on the floor... thank goodness.

As long as, instead of the sales floor, they're not sitting in the non-air conditioned back room near the often-open overhead door by the loading dock :astonished: (You know, waiting for the lemon- and watermelon-flavored "summer" beers to sell out and make room).

I had the September Fest last year, and it was one of my favorite Oktoberfest’s of the season.

Our retailers don't do that around here.

They let the distributors do it.

Fat Head's released G'Suffa, their 5.7% Festbier, this week at all locations on tap and in cans.

It's why they call it the 3 Tears System - it's enough to make a grown man cry.

Being someone who likes to go where I don't belong (<'cause that's a short list) I find myself in the "back room" or the "Employees Only" cooler quite often. "I'm not supposed to be back here? Oh, damn, I'm sorry..."

After one of my then-favorite breweries changed NJ distributors, I no longer could find Sly Fox Pikeland Pils. One day, as the swinging door to the back room opened and closed for a handtruck, I spotted an entire mixed pallet of Sly Fox cases. I started back but was caught.
"Oh, I can't go back there? When's that Sly Fox pallet gonna hit the sales floor?"
    "This weekend."

Forgot about it and next time I stopped in a few weeks later, the shelves still void of Sly Fox beers, I went in the back, pulled out a case of Pikeland Pils to check the date ...AND IT WAS "Best by" that very day. That's some kind of karma or coincidence (it ain't !@#$ irony!). Well, makes for a sad story, anyway.

Somewhat surprisingly, I haven't seen Rahr & Sons Oktoberfest anywhere around Dallas even though it's gone to distribution and is usually the first one out. This time last year I think we had Rahr, Real Ale and Hacker Pschorr(DFW doesn't have year-round) already sitting out.

I'd kill for a fall beer to make me forget we're going to be dying a slow roasted death in the blast furnace of an above average Great Plains summer for the next 2.5 months.

Usually Mid August or so I really start to get the itch for Fall Beers and I always kick off the season with Southern Tier's Harvest Ale. I love having a couple while brewing my annual pumpkin ale. As it creeps closer to september, It's full on Fall beer season for me. Bring on the Oktoberfests, Pumpkin Ales, amber lagers, etc! I'll swing by a couple stores near me this weekend and see if there's anything on the shelves just yet.

I hope you have enough electricity to chill that beer. Good luck.

C'mon, when has the Texas power grid ever had a catastrophic failure due to well-forecasted-in-advance meteorological events?

Jokes aside, part of me does wonder what local sales of fall beer will look like if we're continually touching 109°F+. Heat doesn't deter me since the only difference down here between July and September is essentially table dressing, but I'm sure people don't feel very festive for Oktoberfest when we're shadowing Kuwait for one of the hottest places on Earth.

I found this one to be too hoppy in past years, but I'll give a single a shot if I see it. Jacks Abby Copper legend should be out within 30 days or so and I'm a big fan of that one. Bring on the 12 packs!

    In another thread you 'asked':

"Never understand this complaint. For a product with a shelf-life of 3-6 months (up to year or more for imports), when should a brewer release a beer that celebrates an event that takes place in mid-September"

The 'answer' is your statement above. But you could add sitting in the non-air conditioned Retail Beer Distributor to the list.

    Cheers!

Acknowledged. I started your post and excitedly clicked the Wolf’s Ridge link and didn’t make it back to BA for a while. Squirrels!

Paulaner does indeed brew this beer year-round:

"Paulaner's Oktoberfest Marzen is available all year but was made for the Oktoberfest celebration."

I suppose your local beer retailers (or local distributor?) must have chosen to not stock this year-round beer all year this year? A pandemic thing?

    Cheers!
