Lol this post is like a verbal Sudoku for new Surly beer names:

    take a few breaths
get your emotions under check, man
    got triggered
    elaborate on value
    personal taste
    emotional hatred
    bothered by emotions
    why are you doing it?

    & my personal favorite:

To me 4/16oz is never a great value.

Even when it's cheaper than, or close to, a six-pack of 12 ouncers? 8 ounces is a deal breaker?

    I can honestly justify those 4-packs. It's the $18 4-packs I run from.

I can't think of anything which currently beats this Trumer pils deal from a value perspective. One of my local Binny's has had the bottles on sale, which I've purchased previously, but came across another store today which had the cans. First time I've come across the canned 12 pks so picked one up. It's a couple bucks cheaper than the bottles for some reason too. Sale ends 01 August for those interested.

I was actually thinking of adding a qualifier that 4/0.5L import packs are not included.

Damn you man! That was a secret!

Seriously though, I grabbed 2 12-packs last week, so everyone have at it! Show Trumer some love from the Midwest.

And yeah, while the 12-pack bottles are certainly a bargain, I'm not sure why there is a price difference between the cans and bottles. The beer department manager couldn't answer the question either -- when I asked for the same deal on bottles a couple weeks ago when the cans were sold out, he couldn't do it.

Because of the extra liquid cup?

I guess I'm not as picky as I thought I was.

    Two things:
    1. They are not cheaper - $10 6-pack is 1.67 per beer and $9 4-pack is $2.25 per beer. So you pay a third more.
    2. I don't need the alcohol content of a 16oz can. I absolutely feel the difference.

No, because Paulaner 4-packs are $6.50

I make it easy on myself and stick to a $10 per budget (give or take), whether six or four-pack. So that comes to .14¢ or .16¢ per ounce, right? Correct me if I'm wrong, my math sucks. But I'll put up with a couple extra cents if the beer is right.
We all have our tolerances, and I usually don't buy big ABV beers, so 8 extra ounces in 2 beers an afternoon don't hit me hard.

    Tell me where!

Seriously though, I just saw Paulaner Helles for $7.50 a 4-pack. The same spot had 2 for $3 cans of Pilsner Urquell. That math I can do.

However... when it comes to $7.50 or $6 -- or the $7 H-P Helles 4-packs at the same place, it's really picking nits and only depends on what I'm in the mood for.

Trumer makes no sense to me. They put a brewery on Cali to make beer fresh for the American market, but they refuse to assimilate to the market with cans. If they put these prices on cans and stopped feeding bottles the American market, they’d capture a younger audience and win another long term relevance in the market. The fact that they still are tied to bottles and only discount the bottles tells me they are 1) out of touch with the American market or 2) have a crazy bottle contract they can’t get out of

I don’t want to stray too far from the topic, but there’s been an aluminum can shortage for the past few years. Now is not the most opportune time to make the switch from glass to aluminum.
