Sierra Nevada juniper lemon saison. Awesome saison. Aromas and flavors of big lemon, juniper, coriander, peppercorn, clove, banana, bubblegum, pear, red apple, cracker, white bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Lt med herbal/grassy bitterness and yeast tang/spiciness on the finish. Medium high carb and light med body. Fairly crisp clean refreshing finish. Balanced bready/grainy malt and sticky spice body. Lingering dryness, no astringency. Mild warmth of 7%. It's a spot on saison as expected of the brewery. Very drinkable for the abv. 4.1

Urban Chestnut Balkan Treat Box Helles Lager

I just ran six miles in 80-degree weather to sweat out the assorted beers and Jagermeister from yesterday. The sweat that dripped into my mouth tasted like it was still at about 3% ABV, with notes of hoppy bitterness and lush botanicals. I am rehydrating with this amazing juice, after taking an emotionally riveting shower. It is going to be a gorgeous day!

 

Deschutes The Abyss 2020 Reserve, 11.7% ABV. Abyss was one of the first BBA stouts I had when I got into craft, and I rated it 4.35. I just re-rated it 4.19. It just doesn't have the complexity of the 2015, and it isn't as good.

Meatballs in tomato sauce in the crock for supper.

 

Sierra Nevada lagerworks pilsner. Amazing. Amazing clarity and lasting head the whole glass. Aromas and flavors of lemon, cracker, bread, wood, peppercorn, pine, herbal, floral, grass. Moderate pine/herbal/grassy bitter finish. Medium carb/body. Balanced bready/sticky hop feel. Fairly crisp on lingering resins. Perfectly clean lager flavors. Fairly aggressive noble like hop feel and a clean and flavorful malt backbone. Top tier for the style. 4.36

Screw the glassware today, beer warms up too quickly. Wish I had a 16oz koozie, or better yet a 4-pack of Heady (considering I'm drinking from the cans today).

Taking it easy on beer this week - due to the gouty right toe mentioned a few days back.....
Just went for a toasty 90 degree (index of 98) solo canoe paddle on our lake....very windy, thankfully a cool front is on its way here later and temps in the low 80s are in the forecast this week

I apparantly am going to have to limit myself to fine German pilsners, which are lower in purines than other beers.....ah well

Put a good workout in this morning. Back at the casa enjoying a beer relaxing before I have to fire up the grill. Having salmon and pork chops for the meats today. I haven't bought any fish in a while so that'll be a treat.
