    Happy Monday BA's - a nice cooler northerly breeze kinda day - I dig this kind of summer weather - 81 and low humidity!

    Got some boat work done earlier - more sanding of the 1956 Gibbs Rocket - man, this boat is kickiing my old man ass with all the sanding!

    Another German pils for me.....

    I just want to make this perfectly clear. If someone told me today that I could never drink Tree House again (ever), but I could drink Heady at will, I would look them right in the eye and say: "Where do I sign?" Child, please. This is my favorite beer.

    Revolution Anti-Hero IPA (Chinook, Centennial, Crystal, Citra). A Chicago classic. Bitter pine sap and resin, ruby red grapefruit, orange pith/peel, and floral to name a few. Breadiness and honey-drizzled toast round it out. Great midwest IPA.

    Tonight's Blind Battle Beer Tasting Lineup:

    1) Ayinger Bavarian Pils (5.2%): An authentic German Pilsner with flavors of toasty and earthy Munich bread malts. A smooth, slightly sweet finish.
    versus
    2) Jever Pilsener (4.9%): An authentic German Pils with flavors of crackery pale malts, and a bready and yeasty body. Dry and bitter.

    3) Toppling Goliath King Sue (7.8% canned 3/31/22): A World-Class NEIPA from Iowa brewed with Citra hops and has flavors of orange citrus flower, pineapple, and mango.
    versus
    4) Bearded Iris Attention Please (8.2% canned 6/13/22): A NEIPA from Tennessee brewed with Citra for flavors of mandarin orange, tangerine, sweet nectarine. Juicy and sweet.
    (Both pairs correctly matched blind)

    Winners:

    1) Ayinger Bavarian Pils:     My gold-standard for a German pilsner. The flavors here are spot on and more complex. Earthy, bready, and just slightly toasted. Smooth. Jever is fantastic too with a crisp, yeasty body and a bitter finish.

    3) Toppling Goliath King Sue: Sometimes I wonder why I think that a Citra IPA will compare to King Sue. It rarely does. King Sue dominated. Bearded Iris was okay, but too sweet and lacking creamy haze. Reminded me of Lagunitas Super Cluster IPA.
